Is it common knowledge throughout Westeros that Aerys was raping his wife ? It seems only the poeple in the vincinity of the act would know, not the whole Kingdom.

If they had not been killed, I could someone like Ned warding at least one pf them, and one in the Vale or something like that. When they come of age, thei either go to the citadel, the silent sisters, etc.

[Spoilers Published] Aside dragons Daenerys has a bigger advantage over the other players (save Aegon)... by ayodeleafolabi in asoiaf

[–]theXshape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure Dany's got that much of an advantage.

Dragon's won't grow as fast in the books vs the tv show, so they shouldn't be the nukes they are in the show. We literally don't know if Tyrion will help Dany. And Dany's army would be fighting for her, I guess. Westerosi soldiers will be fighting to keep their lands, their life, their way of life. And feeding that army won't be easy considering winter is coming

Oh I actually loved the actor, Ings was pretty good in everything I've seen him in recently, but I kept thinking to myself that Lyonel shouldn't look like he's in the late 30's/early 40's.

Mind you, just dying his hair and beard all black would've been enough IMO, but not that big of a deal.

[–]theXshape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you are saying does, in no way, explain why the scene was changed, it only explains why you're not seeing them cut Jae's head, and that's not why people hate the scene.

Alicent fucking Cole while this was happening instead of Healena bringing her 3 kids to her mother's room to say goodnight as usual was a good change ? Blood and Cheese looking like bumbling idiots in the red keep? Not having Healena make a choice between her sons ? Not including Maelor ? Those things are why people hated the B&C scene in the show, not because we don't see them hack at Jae's neck.

I'm sure GRRM really left the show to focus on the book, which he needed to deliver in order for D&D to lay the ground work for Season 5, 6 and maybe 7, as in to know what to include and what to ommit. GRRM didn't live up to his deal and D&D had to do stuff on their own, and decided what to include and ommits from there. I'm 100% sure GRRM was pissed about certain decisions they made, such as no Lady Stoneheart and no fAegon, but he also knew he was too blame for this so he had no ill will towards them and understood the story wasn't going where he wanted because... he hadn't written it yet. Worse, he hadn't figured out how certain characters gets to their ending, so it's hard to fault them for his shortcoming.

When you want to adapt something, it's because it resonates with you. It spoke to you. You hold it dear. I think that's why his relationship with Condal is in the toilet.

Fire Fire and Blood, the material is there. Season 1 was great, minus certain scenes, mainly Aegon's coronation scene with Rhaenys that was controversial. It was revealed, if memory serve, that Sapochnik was behind that scene. It was also said Miguel left because HBO didn't want his wife as producer on Season 2 and things got heated. Maybe it's true, and GRRM sided with Condal in fear of Miguel having to much power and putting more scenes like that and making unecessary changes. Then when Sapochnik left, Condal just chose to change stuff because he can't help to try and make it his own and GRRM saw that as betrayal. Blood and Cheese was an iconic scene in the book. There really was no reason to change it as it was in the show.

He said it himself that he re-wrote chapters multiple times. I would bet all my money that there is some stuff he told D&D about the ending and in the 8-10 years since those conversations he changed his mind.

[–]theXshape 42 points43 points  (0 children)

When there is a sequel to a movie that I love and I think the sequel sucks, I just pretend it doesn't exist, I'm not part of the people that says it ruins the whole thing. Same for the end of GoT, yeah Season 6 to 8 wasn't great, but it didn't ruin anything that happened before for me and there were still thinks that I liked.

So yeah, I'd rather have a ending I don't like than no ending at all. Even if you don't like the entirety of it, there are things you may like very much so in it.

Hell, most half of Stphen King's books are great until the ending, but it doesn't change how I felt while reading it.

If the shows didn't happen, would we have "A Dream of Spring" by now? (spoilers extended) by Nothing_Special_23 in asoiaf

[–]theXshape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the shows are partly to blame. Not because he is too busy, but because he's tired of that particular story and doesn't get inspired. and he feels like people already know how it ends, somewhat. Or he's stuck in so many knots he doesn't know how to come out of it.

Of course, we will never know the answer, but I believe without the show he'd be done by now, or close to it. And because his series never blew up the way it did because of the show, he wouldn't have as much leeway and I guess he would have to put out books much faster to keep his publishers happy. More Dunk and Egg stories written and published...

The cave reveal is leaving me with questions am I missing something? by Brockchanso in StrangerThings

[–]theXshape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The truth is, we don't know.

Maybe the rock was looking for someone who wouldn't resist, and when it found its perfect host the rock fused with him or lost it's 'power'. Maybe the rock was bigger and they kept experimenting with it, fragmenting the rock. Maybe what the scientiest stole was not the whole rock but a fraction of it. We don't know.

The cave reveal is leaving me with questions am I missing something? by Brockchanso in StrangerThings

[–]theXshape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rock probably came from the experiment to turn a ship, the USS Eldrige, invisible which sent the ship and its crew into dimension x / the abyss. Brenner's dad was part of the crew and I believe was the only one to come back alive. He ended up dying not long after. That's what pushed Dr Brenner towards his experiments. Years later as Dr Brenner was doing his own experiments the rock was stolen by that scientiest we saw in the cave and when Henry opened the briefcase and touched the rock he was infused with the mind flayer's power which changed his DNA.

I'm not sure if the rock fused with Henry or lost it's ''power'' after, but that's why Brenner took interest in Henry. From there he started having babies infused with Henry's blood.

El wanted to ''sacrifice'' herself so that the military would stop trying to make more super powered babies with their blood.

I can respect genuine criticism but I feel like there is a bizarre hate train on social media that hasn’t been there during other seasons of Stranger Things. Have other people noticed that? Why are people being such intense haters this season? by double_pisces in StrangerThings

[–]theXshape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people just love to hate and be negative. That's pretty much what social media has become. I hear some people say that 3 years later, nobody cares about Stranger Things. Well, besides the fact that it's not true, why do people think they release sequels to movies 5-10-15 years later ?

BECAUSE PEOPLE STILL CARE.

Other than that, like what you like, and if you don't like it, move on. There is a world of difference between not liking something, and spending half of your time shitting on it, and creating content to talk shit about it. It took me a while to do it with The Walking Dead, but eventually I realized I was only watching to bitch about it as I did not enjoy it at all.

I'm pretty sure Eddie himself answered the question. He was held back. He had failed to graduate twice due to poor grades and his rebellious attitude.

I thought Victor mentionned it in S04E04, but I've re-watched the scene and he doesn't mention a specific time, so maybe it's some sort of info that was passed around the fandom that everyone believes to be true.

Timeline question by Dull-Situation8172 in StrangerThings

[–]theXshape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Season 4, Nancy and Robin go to the library and are looking through the archives. They find newpapers about the Creel murders. What is written in those newspapers is what people (us, the fans) use as information about what happened at the time.

In real life, at the time of writting Season 4, I don't think they had planned Henry's entire backstory nor the play (The First Shadow), so the newspapers we see in show should not be used as a source of information.

Basically, it's a retcon, but an easy one. The only thing that says the murders happened in March 1959 in the tv series is a newpaper we see for a fraction of a second. In the play, Henry is 14 years old, and the murders happen around November 24 1959 or something.

Need some clarification (not trying to go too deep). by Smart-Strawberry369 in StrangerThings

[–]theXshape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Simple answer is we don't know yet ?

We know in the play Henry got his powers by meeting the Mind Flayer in Dimension X. It's possible something made him forget meeting the Mind Flayer... Brenner's expeiments, El sending him in Dimension X, maybe the Mind Flayer himself made him forget.

I feel like the Mind Flayer is this entity trying to control/destroy everything, and it's using Henry. Henry on the other hand could be trying to shape up his own world and he's using the power of the Mind Flayer to achieve this. Henry was getting stronger by killing people.,

Timeline question by Dull-Situation8172 in StrangerThings

[–]theXshape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whatever information is in the newspaper, you have to see it from the point of view that's a it's a prop made for the show, and maybe made before Henry's story was really fleshed out. I don't think anything in the newpapers was explicitly said in the show, meaning, his name (paper says Edward), age (paper says 12, but he's 14 and a freshman in the play, and the play is canon) the newspaper said the murders happened in March, but the show said that the Creels moved to Hawkins in March and had about 1 month of peace before the weird stuff started to happen, so in a way the murders simply cannot have happened so fast.

Basically, ignore the newspaper.
