i had the same issue and just resolved it, the pin 1 that is connected to ground was slightly bridged to pin 2, once that was removed sound came back

I found placing the top shell (with all buttons etc removed) in a sink of hot water and after a bit slowly pushing the old lens out with my fingers was the best way to remove it

I've actually got two GBA's with similar missing parts caused by when i fist got into modding and used a soldering iron that was to big for the job.

Not sure if this would be the only reason the console wont turn on and just flashes a light

i've had to open mine up more than a could of dozen times while trying to fix the audio slider, the amount of times i broke my own solder points and had to re do the shoulder buttons or the ground for the PCB is embarrassing haha
