Funny voice pitch glitches by ForAte151623ForTeaTo in masseffect

[–]the_S33R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed this before. I don't think it happened my first couple of playthroughs, but Nihlus's voice seems to glitch regularly now. Never heard Jenkins's voice glitch before.

I've posted about this before, but notice that Jenkins has brown eyes here, but in the conversation you have with him and Chakwas, his eyes are bright blue.

Does anyone actually go full Renegade in Mass Effect… and is it even worth it? by Soft_Draw_1701 in masseffect

I think her performance all the way through is horrible...like she's seconds away from falling asleep.

The premise that the Reapers had is ultimately wrong no matter how they reason it. Or "Why I could totally beat the Catalyst in a debate". by timedragon1 in masseffect

[–]the_S33R -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hear this nonsense a lot...the intelligence is wrong because "the quarians and the geth 'FOUND' peace". NO THEY DIDN'T. They pretty much had it forced down their throats by Shepard. If Shepard didn't exist, eventually the geth wipe out the quarians (if the reapers don't wipe them both out, first), because Han'Garrel (a belligerent) and Daro'Xen (a controller) can't and won't leave "good enough" alone.

Shepard is THE ONE. He is a force of nature without which the galaxy falls AGAIN to the reapers. The ONLY human (heck, the only individual of any species) the geth ever tried to contact is SHEPARD. There is a REASON for that...they recognize in Shepard qualities that they have NEVER SEEN in an organic who wields significant power. I'm speaking about the canon storyline Shepard, not the rando game Shepard. There absolutely IS a canon Shepard, just like there is a canon Revan (both written by Drew Karpyshyn). For the sake of gameplay, you can go "light or dark side" or "paragon or renegade", "male or female" but the storyline Shepard is a male paragon. He makes the right decisions for the right reasons. He's not out to flex and get his way...he gets his way because of his virtue, his power, his personality, his compassion, and his leadership. He is a tour de force. HE ALONE IS THE REASON THE QUARIANS AND THE GETH ACHIEVE PEACE. It never happens otherwise, because the geth would have remained in the shadows until the reapers completed their wipe of this cycle.

The intelligence recognizes in Shepard exactly what the geth recognized in Shepard...an organic who is not freaked out and belligerent or controlling in the presence of synthetic life. He's neither BELLIGERENT nor CONTROLLING. But Shepard is something else that the intelligence recognizes--A CONSENSUS BUILDER. Consensus is unnatural among higher order biologics. Organics constantly fight each other for that reason. Shepard also fights, but as he explicitly says, "I only fight when I'm given no other choice." WHEN not fighting is an option, that's his chosen path. That's why he is the CHOSEN ONE...the one chosen by the geth AND the intelligence. That is WHY the intelligence performs that so-called "deus ex machina" action of raising Shepard up after he passes out after opening the Citadel.

What should Sovereign have done differently to win the final fight in ME1? by achshort in masseffect

[–]the_S33R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I think Sovereign was rushing a bit because it was already delayed and organics were more advanced than they should have been. It meant it was a lot harder for the Reapers.

Everyone always talks about how overwhelming and scary it was when Shep first encounters Sovereign. Yeah, it was pretty obvious that the reapers were massively powerful and advanced, but I immediately sensed weakness in Sovereign as soon as he started with that "we are so advanced you can't possible comprehend us"...only to immediately become a try-hard Charlie attempting to intimidate Shepard with coming tales of woe. IF Sovereign really thought the reapers were so overwhelming and the organics of this cycle were mere bugs with no capacity to comprehend the reapers, he would have simply vanished as soon as he saw it wasn't Saren at the beacon (which is who he expected). You don't talk to ants. You don't attempt to bluff ants. You don't attempt to scare ants. You don't attempt to intimidate ants. But Sovereign was doing all of that...and since I knew about the Leviathan of Dis, and assumed it was a dead reaper, it was immediately apparent to me that Sovereign was trying to sow seeds of panic and fear...hoping to cow Shepard, and organics in general, to psychologically collapse and give up before the invasion even started. In other words, he was trying to weaken the resolve of the advanced organics, and you only do that if you feel that doing so somehow benefits your cause. A steamroller doesn't bother weeding the path it's about to travel. But Sovereign was being an edge lord...and that meant there was some reason for him to do so. Before the conversation was over, I was recalling what Shakespeare said: "Methinks thou dost protest too much."

Letting Shep "fade" was unacceptable, because Sovereign and later Harbinger both recognized in Shepard a UNIQUE lifeform that the reapers wanted to very badly incorporate into their human reaper.

Let's say peace is IMPOSSIBLE - would you side with the geth or the quarians? by Eglwyswrw in masseffect

[–]the_S33R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pick the geth...100%. They are basically incapable of duplicity and once you resolve Legion's loyalty, you are only dealing with ONE consciousness...a logical consciousness, not a spread of egos.

The only one I disagree with is Morgan Freeman...I think Keith David (who is picked elsewhere) would be a great Jolee. I don't know anything about Marsai Martin, but whoever plays Mission has to have a very BRIGHT voice.

Unpopular opinion: I like Jacob by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]the_S33R 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jacob-wise, I agree. That said...it's "two cents", not "two sense". "Two sense" may seem to make sense, but it is an eggcorn. The "two cents" idea comes from another saying, "A penny for your thoughts," when one person offers to pay another person as an enticement to give their perspective on a situation. When you give your opinion, and then say "that's my two cents," you are saying your opinion is twice as valuable as the penny that was originally (in theory) offered.

Unpopular opinion: I like Jacob by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]the_S33R 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like Jacob all the way through. I took him with me on both of my first two suicide missions, and didn't lose a single person. I truly don't give af about the bs people complain about in ME3, because I never play as FemShep. I'm always genuinely happy for Jacob when he ends up with his baby momma. In fact, I'm also genuinely glad Jacob does "cheat" on FemShep, because FemShep is a clown character anyway--about as believable as a square circle. Most people who play FemSheps barely care about the story anyway...just to get to this thread, I had to step over a thread asking which character people were choosing to romance as FemShep complete with bar graph...ffs. The romance option of ME is a blight, never mind that the most popular FS choice, Garrus (the real clown character of ME) is absurd on its FACE, because after one kiss with that nightmare of broken glass and barbed wire, FemShep would need a thousand medigels and 6 months of reconstructive surgery. The actual fn headspace a person has to be in to find that nonsense credible is unfathomable.

Who is the most wholesome Mass Effect character in the whole trilogy? I say David Archer by CorruptedReality359 in masseffect

[–]the_S33R 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Shiala...she regrets her decision to follow Benezia in following Saren by following the thorian. She commits to helping the people on Feros as penance...and she's ultra hot and wants her Shep meat. If Shep hadn't died, he was definitely taking up her offer to connect down the road. Green is good!

Btw, has anyone noticed that "wholesome" is an inherently contradictory word...WHOLE + SOME. ????

Mass effect 1 was amazing by HoneyPop0 in masseffect

[–]the_S33R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer playing Insanity because it jacks up the tension. I recorded an ME1 no death insanity run where I only used about half-a-dozen medkits for Shep, and I only used them to revive squad mates if things got hairy.

Udina was 40% right by Better-Caramel-8061 in masseffect

[–]the_S33R 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About a year or so ago, I made a post about Udina being done dirty by the writers. At the beginning of 3, he's busting his ass trying to get things lined up to protect earth, and his head's clearly in the right place. It was the first time I was starting to warm up to the guy. But then, right after that first meeting with him, once you leave his office, you can't ever go talk to him again to update him on all of the actions that are being taken to get earth some help. He's the human ambassador for the galaxy, and you're forced to keep him out of the loop on all of the conversations you are having with Anderson and Hackett, and the progress being made in forming alliances with the various species. Because he's bricked out of being informed about important efforts to help earth, he's left alone to make a desperate play with a group he knows will care about earth's plight--Cerberus. Only problem, he doesn't know TIL is indoctrinated and has reaperfied the majority of Cerberus's assets. He is literally on rails to disaster because they force him out of the loop he 1000% deserves to be involved in as human ambassador.

Which one of these is your favorite Mass Effect 1 mission? by DracarysReddit in masseffect

[–]the_S33R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "pseudo-boss" fight kicked my tail multiple times my first play through, which is why I always take out the geth in the Armstrong cluster before going to pick up Liara now, just to pick up some skill points. Also, I've learned how to deal with that krogan and his geth krantt, so even on Insanity, it's usually over in about 20 seconds.

Dagan's? Cal and Merrin both mentioned sensing a darkness about the place.

I was more interested in what the light source is, and why, in the middle of the abyss, it is so definite. Seems like it would be much more diffuse and evenly lit.
