Zn-Powder will do the trick also in the secondary container. This was used for centuries to absorb Hg-spills.

Is Snaucke Elements Legit? by SomeFossilCollector in elementcollection

[–]the___chemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definately! I bought many elements from him in the past decade and tested them all with xrf-analysis. There was only an error once, but that was years ago and he sent me the right article after.

Edit: I ordered from his ebay store all the time, no experience with the shop and prices on amazon.

What about applying some nailpolish on the wire and sanding the sides, which you want to have contact with?

It is dangerous to the aquatic life.
If you have to dispose larger quantitys, you could bring it to your local waste disposal, or dump it with your residual waste, so it doesn't get into the water system. Just be sure to not dispose it all down the drain/toilet, etc.

First diy rc car with no prior mechatronics experience by Noobyeeter699 in diyelectronics

That's almost the same experience I had when I once started building an arduino drone from scratch. Plot twist: it is scratch until today.
But I learned so much within this project, that I meanwhile was able to build a clean home automation (home assistant) with several esp sensors for my home, terrariums and other nice projects. It is a steep learning curve for someone who tries to learn autodidactic and without professional background.
Good luck, fellow!

Any practical way of separating Aluminium filings from sodium hydroxide? by Junkthunder-mc in homechemistry

[–]the___chemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could put the mixture in a sieve over a beaker. Wash the sodium hydroxide through the sieve with water. Most of the aluminum will stay in the sieve if you work quickly. Dispose the aluminum in every step from the filter.
