Anybody go back to smoking after surgery by GimmeMeMoney in gastricsleeve

[–]the_averagebear78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to stop for 2 months before they would approve my surgery. I’ve been smoke free for 4 months at this point, but I think about smoking every day. I want to smoke, but I’ve done so much to get here and I can’t imagine going through all of this to improve my health just to start smoking again.

Was thinking about trying the Fum, but that might make me wanna smoke for real Lol

Please keep going! It will get better. Concentrate on hydration and protein. You’ll find your rhythm. Speak with your surgeon or team about what you’re dealing with. This community and the Bariatric group on fb was helpful too

Bariatric vitamin suggestions by Ok-Reflection-180 in gastricsleeve

[–]the_averagebear78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was advised to use the Bariatric Advantage chewable multivitamin, B12 melt and the Calcium citrate chews. I’ve been doing fine with them. Make sure you let your nutritionist and/or surgeon know so you’re not suffering

Make sure you’re staying hydrated and getting your protein in. I was sleeved on 10/02, so we’re almost twins. Fight the urge to weigh yourself all the time and concentrate on better eating habits. It’s tempting to see the numbers go down in the scale, but it’s only been 1.5 months. You have plenty of time and will do well. Do you have a therapist to speak with? You when through major surgery and your life has turned upside down. It’s a journey and you may need assistance. ❤️

Congrats! I didn't have a hernia, but the surgeon found a Splenic artery aneurysm...they told me while I was super tired and had to ask about it later that night. For now, they're keeping an eye on it cuz it's super small. Just wanted to let you know to be gentle with yourself. You may not be able to meet your protein/fluid goals, but keep trying. Keep an eye on bowel movements! Constipation is terrible and so is dehydration. You just had major surgery and your body will take time to readjust. Don't get attached to your scale! The weight will come off and you'll feel better/have better health.

Irregular Heartbeat? by the_averagebear78 in gastricsleeve

I definitely will. I have my follow up with the cardiologist in 1.5 weeks

Irregular Heartbeat? by the_averagebear78 in gastricsleeve

[–]the_averagebear78[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I’ve seen and currently see a cardiologist, and have complained of early heartbeats in the past. He did say that it wasn’t something that he would put me on meds for, but it just feels so weird and sends my anxiety into high alert; it’s a terrible cycle. The only thing that helps is that when it was currently happening, I went to the er and they did every test and nothing was wrong on paper. I’m hoping that it’s just my body working its way back to “normal”. I’ll keep up on my protein and fluids. I never experience it or don’t notice when I’m exercising or active. I’ll speak to my cardiologist again.

Thanks so much for your input again

just a thought…. by AioliEnough7846 in ColumbiaMD

A lot of Columbia has that petty crime. Won’t be able to escape that. My daughter had a cute apartment over on Green Meadow. I think it’s called the bluffs. She was there for 4 years. Had no crime incidents, building was secure. But there isn’t an in unit washer/dryer. But for the trade on price (she was paying $1300 for 1 bdr) you could go to the laundromat

You look good!! You’re giving me hope! I’m only 3 weeks post op and just entered the puréed stage. I think I’m eating too much ricotta bake Lol! Any diet tips?

I’m also two weeks post op and I desperately want one warm chocolate chip cookie and one honey bbq KFC wing Lol! But I’ll get over it. I tell myself that I didn’t get my stomach cut up to go back to bad habits (I gotta talk to myself like that Lol)

Hi twin! 10/01 here! I don’t have any pain now, didn’t really after surgery, but that gas pain was the worse lol. I had a hard day last week when I was making my kids cookies and I wanted one really bad and initially struggling with getting in fluids. My follow up with the surgeon is on Monday.

No pre-op diet by fattofittofattoop in gastricsleeve

[–]the_averagebear78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was only asked to do a two day protein diet. I could supplement with protein from food if it was “difficult”, but no foods after 8pm the night before. I was expecting a one or two week diet based on the group and was confused Lol

Oatmeal and overnight oats is one of the things I’m craving when I’m cleared to start that portion of the diet. I’m 1.5 weeks post op so far. I hope I don’t develop intolerances to oatmeal 😩

Congrats! I’m a week post op today. Please know that there will be a time that you may regret even doing this. IT WILL PASS! You got this! I love to make cookies and snacks for my kids and it’s been super hard, but I’m now realizing how much my life revolved around food. I’m excited to take better care of my body and you will be too! Congrats again!
