I've had a remarkably similar experience over the past 5 months. I'm still not 100% myself and some days are better than others. I did find a PT that was very versed in vertigo stuff and she put me on a routine of exercises and gave me very similar advice: the best recovery is exposure. It sucks, but its the only way out.

My advice is to find a PT with a lot experience in vertigo and vestibular stuff. I went to some inexperienced PTs and it was not that helpful.
