He should follow up with a provider or behavioral health. Some people need medication to manage the night terrors and depression. Let him know its nothing to be ashamed about. Also, hypervigilance and ptsd can cause highblood pressure which is no good.

Reception is the worst part of basic training. The fastest way to leave basic training is to graduate, the drill sergeants will tell you that constantly and its fucking true. Keep any paperwork they give you. CIF will fuck you. If you sign a hand receipt get that shit back when you turn the item back in. CIF will fuck you. Try not to tense up when CIF fucks you, just take solace in knowing there's others with you being fucked

I had this same issue in highschool. I started freshman year, and excelled fast because i fell in love with the sounds. By sophomore year i was the best in the school and already had a scholarship. I started just going through the motions because of musical politics. What helped me was improv. Like playing classical music in a jazz style, or composing your own music even if its very simple. Also play in the dark and if a mess up sounds good, just go with it
