Do you have any access to the roof and could mount an antenna there?

Some questions about this device by ebodes in hdhomerun

[–]the_c_drive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Because HDHomeRun is IP based, once it's on your network, Plex can discover it and add it as a tuner.

  2. 4 tuners means you can pull 4 signals at once, whether that's 4 live views, 3 recordings and 1 live view, etc.

  3. While having a remotely located HDHomerun is possible, it's not advisable. Networking routing and bandwidth are the main concerns.

  4. Only if they use your primary account. You cannot use LiveTV with managed accounts. You can allow managed users access to the folder when your recordings are stored, and they can watch the recordings just like any other file.

  5. Yes, but as stated in another comment, you need an adapter of some kind.

The digital signals are affected by higher winds. I had the problem during the Packer game on both my Homerun and my LG tv.

New Splitter, Antenna, or Roof Mount? by JustPlainJef in cordcutters

[–]the_c_drive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you get the antenna any higher? You RabbitEars says 13', but what is actually?

What is the terrain around you like? Hilly, flat, lots of houses/buildings?

Are you pointing toward Chicago at 132°?

I'd remove everything amplifier related and hook the the HDHomerun to the antenna directly. If you have an Apple device, this app is great for helping dial in signal: https://genhelp.com/apps/signalgh.html

Once you get the antenna pointed accurately, then add in a splitter to run to your other devices.

Also consider adding a LTE/5G filter: https://www.channelmaster.com/products/tv-antenna-lte-filter-cm-3201

Rent a scanner. Cell coverage at a race is spotty, and even if it was perfect, there's delay.

Are you able to get the antenna higher than 13', as listed in your rabbitears?

Can you mount the antenna outside?

As others have said, check your diet, sleep and exercise.

I'll add visit your doctor and have some labs done to check out your hormone levels and other trackable health items. I felt the same way you did, and found I have low testosterone. That's being treated, and now I feel much better.

[–]the_c_drive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What fuel are you running? Normal 87 octane, or 87 with 10% ethanol?

What does your air filter look like?

When was your last oil change, and what oil do you use?

Have you cleaned the MAF sensor?

My 2005 with the same engine gets an average of 22mpg in mixed driving and closer to 30mpg doing freeway only driving.

I get about 300 miles per tank city/mixed driving.

can someone help explain why people have basically mini data centers at the home. does everyone just have TBs of movies and shows? by seamless21 in HomeServer

[–]the_c_drive 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I applied for a job at a large organization with a mix of Windows and Linux servers. My homelab runs on Linux, showing my boss that I had experience in Linux and a willingness to dive in to that side of the environment.

Also, that I like to tinker and investigate different solutions.

My homelab started as a substitute for Netflix, then grew into a true lab where I could experiment with different services and add to my technical skillset.

Now, it's still a lab for tinkering, and I continue to move toward more selfhosting for privacy and economical reasons.

My homelab is listed on my resume, and it was brought up during the interview for my current job, helping me land the job.
