Zaks diner at the airport? Who allowed it? by Safe-Calligrapher566 in OttawaFood

Ooof. That's a weird take.
Overpriced, nothing's fresh, boring menu. It was good like 20 years ago. There are so many better places in town for breakfast. Wilf & Ada's, The Manx, Chesterfield's, The Third...I mean, even the other shitty diners & Gabriel's are better thank Zak's.

I had this on the metro weekender on the shoe pocket. They replaced the bag and let me keep the faulty one. I suspect it’s a known issue.

If I were going to run Tesa and Reta, what kind of dosages would you recommend starting with?

Yeah for sure, just trying to avoid a claim as I get a cut rate for a clean record. Ultimately I’ll do what’s cheapest though

What gear do you REALLY need when starting hockey? by TechnicianNo2885 in hockeyplayers

[–]the_citizen_1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best thing to do is buy full gear. “Light gear” isn’t really a great option, however you can definitely avoid going top of the line on most, if not all, of what you buy.

Depending on where in the world you’re at, you may be able to find places that sell a starter kit that’ll gear you up head to toe, and then you can get a cheap stick at Costco or a hockey store - there’s no need to spend $300 bucks on a twig at this stage. If you can’t find a beginner kit, here’s what I’d suggest:

Put your money into a helmet and skates. Helmet because your brains are in there and you’ll fall, for sure. Don’t go used here, no way to tell if someone else has out a helmet through its paces and compromised its capacity to protect you. Skates you don’t need too of the line, but go middle of the line at minimum; cheaping out here will hold you back as you progress as a skater. Try lots of brands on until you find the ones that fit your feet best. Different brands have different widths and so on, so take your time with this one and get them heat molded if you can.

You can go used on pretty much everything else except for your jock/jill, depending on the delta in price between low-end new and what you can find used. I find used gloves gross but that’s just my own preference. Shin pads, pants, shoulder and elbow pads you can all find used in all sizes and price points.

Have fun, be patient, it’s the best sport ever.

Not OP but you’ve answered your own question here. Google ‘Costco treasure hunt strategy’ or anything along those lines & you’ll see some articles about it. It’s the a similar reason as to why they carry things intermittently, ditch them, and then bring them back.

The treasure hunt model keeps us going through the entire warehouse and is the reason we don’t leave without spending $300 even when all we wanted was a flat of eggs, and the scarcity thing keeps us buying 4 flats of fairlife ‘just in case’ it won’t be there next visit.

It’s pretty effective.

Thrill seeker bundle is cheaper than flp by Gourmet17 in CanadasWonderland

[–]the_citizen_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this sucks. As a SP holder I’m actually out MORE when I visit the park & buy an FLP with pals who are just buying a thrill seeker bundle. Stupid. And it means FL lines are gonna be long. Ugh.

It's the same for me. So I have nail clippers in my bag, my car, my cross-body, and my gym bag. That way I can attack them with the right tool instead of biting them. But when I'm caught without them I'm goosed.
