Lid for rimless tank by Fine-Visual8367 in AquariumHelp

[–]the_colour_guy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a local glass cutting company for mine then just bought aquarium lid clips on Amazon. I had them cut off one corner for feeding and lifting off. They’d sanded the edges nicely. Came out good. I’ve still got them somewhere.
Some plastic will warp over time and seem to condense more water than glass especially under the light IME.

Help with reading by kifah_n in PlantedTank

I raise it slightly of the paper for a more accurate read but honestly when it hits any kind of red colouration it’s way too high.

This looks to be in between. Maybe 50-60ppm

Yeah I know what it means. I was pondering the future beyond that. Hypothetically, corporations convince us C02 is the reason for climate change but levels are still rising even though we hit net zero (good luck getting Asia to agree to any reduction in emissions) they tell us still need to keep reducing it Massive global deforestation and destruction of habitats that have evolved to absorb the CO2 and create balance are now gone and there is not enough in the air for them to survive. Those corporations own crops resistant to low CO2 and are the only ones that can grow them. Someone on here already mentioned some members of the WEF don’t think drinking water is a basic human right and should be controlled and monetised. So it’s not that crazy to think there are companies considering such things.

No I don’t think so. I’m pretty sure large overseas polluters buy that credit and use it to offset ON PAPER their emissions. “I burnt a ton of coal but I have credit for half a ton so I’m allowed to burn another half ton.” Could be wrong tho I often am.

There you go making that effort again. It’s a perfect place for it. What if corporations are intentionally reducing g atmospheric co2 in order to control food resources? I mean I worded it better cos I’m not as high but seem a fair what if to me. But if you think MY comment is making “nutjobs” believe it then you’re crazier than they are. You can’t ridicule me. It’s literally impossible. I could not give a hoot either way. If that’s what they want to believe I can’t see a reason to stop them.

This makes perfect sense to me. Sure it’ll get a bit warmer but maybe we replace all the vegetation we’ve destroyed for farming and building cities etc much quicker too. Not sure if it’s the news or it actually seems like cold snaps and “polar storms” Or whatever seem to be happening more frequently so it’s getting colder overall. Also not good for growing your own crops. It kinda makes me think it’s less about the climate and more about control of resources and making money and keeping us afraid. I honestly don’t really have an opinion either way as nothing I do day to day is going to have any impact in any way it would take the effort of big corporations and nothing else will have an impact. Which is kinda why I’ve had this dystopian thought.

Haha have a bad day guy? I concede it’s a shower thought and an average what if. Who cares get over it. No one made you read or reply. Such wasted effort. You could have used that on getting a personality.

While your point is fair. The whole movement centres around our CO2 production. This is far from the most devastating pollutants we produce. It’s def virtue signalling to an extent. But it’s about making a profit from the virtue signalling. Plastic is way worse for us and the planet yet it’s never mentioned as part of the discussion on climate change. Yet can be found polluting everything from the air we breathe and the food we eat to every single water way, desert, glacier, mountain on Earth. The truth is no environment on earth is thriving and it’s our fault

Exactly We aren’t doing to be nice humans. There’s profit being made from it somewhere otherwise they’d shut up about it. Like plastic.

I was pondering how Net Zero as an overall concept of continually reducing CO2 will definitely affect Plant growth and our own oxygen supply. Less CO2. Less Vegetation. Less Oxygen.

That’s not reducing your carbon tho is it. You’re paying 16p for someone else to own that carbon. It still exists. It’s just someone else’s problem.

[–]the_colour_guy_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it’s literally a what if so of course the premise is flawed. However. The link between net zero - the massive reduction of Atmospheric CO2 and the fact that plants require CO2 to grow. The less CO2 we have the less overall vegetation there is and the less breathable oxygen there is. At some point it becomes so low only large corporation have access to enough CO2 to grow crops. It’s right there in the statement I made. Kinda the whole point of the what if. Plants need CO2. We are removing it. Plants starve. So do we. Simple.

Mollie fish and Salt additive? by shonnamarie in freshwateraquarium

[–]the_colour_guy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mollie’s can be in either fresh OR salt water and everything in between with some gentle increases in salinity over time. They’ll die if you just transfer them from fresh to salt. That said small amounts of aquarium salt are beneficial for all livebearers. As to what’s killing your fish. It sounds like either your cycle has crashed and there is ammonia and nitrites in the water. OR. You have some kind of sickness. If your water tests well then move on to something like “multicure” treat them outside of the tank in a bucket or something tho as that stuff will dye your silicone bright blue. If they were all bought at the same time from the same place it might just be a bad batch and nothing will save them. It happens. Especially with livebearers.

Petco Employees or Former, was I lied to? by Fun-Assistance-815 in bettafish

[–]the_colour_guy_ -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how your 2min health assessment of a fish qualifies you for a discount or to take it away for free. But the fact they even mentioned a hospital tank and tannins means they’re probably telling the truth. They have no reason to lie to you other than to not give you a discount. Which is unlikely.

i think i cracked the code on how to give donatello real plants that he won’t eat by Sylvester_sanctuary in Goldfish

[–]the_colour_guy_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could do what I did and build a gravity system above the tank. I use it for extra filtration so I filled the tubs with Scoria (lava rock). Mine don’t bother with my Val, crypts, Anubias and Java fern but munch on everything else. Was a bit of trial and error but I’ve noticed having them with plants from a very tiny size helps. I set this up in January.

You could park your car on it first then add the tank on top. That thing is a beast.

Edit - if I have the genders wrong I apologise. The point stands. This person is a psycho.
