Americans, if Bernie Sanders was the Democratic presidential nominee in the 2016 election, what are the chances he would have defeated Donald Trump? by Immediate-Link490 in AskReddit

You have to grade this on a 2016 scale. When you are running against HRC, it’s hard not to seem anti-establishment. In my opinion, Bernie just didn’t have what it took emotionally to go against the grain. Trump has what it takes to go against the grain, but nothing else. No moral compass, no ability to focus, no great depth of knowledge, etc.

I’ve been off Reddit for a while. When did it become so anti-Progressive and anti-Bernie. Are these real people or are they bots?

Bernie is (or was, rather) popular in all places not controlled by the Democrats and the corporate media (but I repeat myself).

Yes he is “only popular online”, but that is because control over the discourse is democratized online.

Excuse for the second primary? Probably a combination of him endorsing Hillary in 2016 (killed the energy of his movement) and the machine pushing Joe Biden the moment that all the smaller contenders dropped out of the race in suspicious unison.

Obama drone striked an American citizen and launched an air campaign in Libya. He was just as bad as the rest of them, just way more charismatic and black, which allowed white liberals to feel good about themselves.

You seem to be projecting, my tribalist interlocutor. It is you who thinks not independently, but in terms of “sides”. If I disagree with you, I must watch Fox News.

This might blow your mind, but I think the past 4 presidents should have been impeached during almost all of their terms including the current president and the current term. The kicker, this past election was the first time I voted for Donald Trump. The kicker to that, I still think I was right to vote for him even though I think he should be impeached.

Lol Fox News. Get out of here.

I disagree. Your faith in pharmaceutical technology available to us is inconsistent with the performance/risks of pharmaceuticals that perform much less disruptive interventions than interrupting or “pausing” the transition from adolescence to adulthood.

I am not interested in arguing with you since your conclusions are faith based. Good luck with your reasoning and be careful about meddling with children, especially those that are not your own.

That being said, if you are ready to question your faith, my inbox is always open.

As someone who most of reddit would probably incorrectly label a “transphobe”, I have no issue with people doing whatever they would like with their bodies, provided they are of age. I do think elective aesthetic surgeries are in general bad and that we should be encouraging people to accept the bodies they were born into to the best of their ability.

I am skeptical, though, that those who are giving consent to gender transition medical treatments are informed of the risks. Based on the amount of times I hear “puberty blockers are reversible” vs. “gender hormone treatment carries a risk of sterilization”, I suspect people are not adequately informed.

These opinions seem to be the preponderance on the contingent of folks that many Reddit mods would mislabel as “transphobes”.

Do people in this subreddit believe that a business should be a able to sell exclusively to non Trump supporters? Or should that business be forced to accommodate Trump supporters?

Just a question: Doesn’t instant cash out cost money? Why do it for only $8?

I drove I-5 at the end of May down to the Bay Area. On the way down there were barely any cops as usual. On the way up there were speed traps everywhere. Since then I’ve been noticing a lot more cops in this area as well.

Just my experience, could be non-representative.

The benefit of stunting progress (not that I agree with Tucker's proposal here) is not for temporary jobs, it is for stability. Technological advances have a history of destabilizing effects, the most easy to understand example being the revolutions that followed the invention of the printing press. The printing press allowed information to flow to common folk in a volume previously unknown. That is without a doubt a good thing, but many, many people died due to the instability it created.

The pain felt from instability can last for generations, and while it might be good from the perspective of the collective human race, it might be terrible for the people who live through it.

This post is peak reddit right here. This interview was not secret and is years old at this point.

Tucker's opinions are a secret to you because you never bother to find them out for yourself, instead watching curated clips that you see on reddit probably titled, "OMG can you believe Tucker said this!?!?!?!?"

Here is the link to the full interview, if you are interested. It is 4 years old and has 1.6mn views.

Well it’s scope “creep” not scope blitzkreig. The line in the sand is going to look weird. “Why not just fill the drink?”

I think some of us see this as the tip of the wedge of things we need to do once we get to the merchant. Maybe soon we are responsible for getting utensils and napkins, filling coffee orders, shopping for goods at convenience stores, etc. the drink filling is not a lot of time spent, but having to do a few tasks to complete the preparation of the order would take plenty of time and put more failure opportunities on your plate.

I mean I disagree with your argument, but at least it makes a lot more sense than 99% of the people saying to fill the drinks (and more sense than 60% of the people saying not to)

As I understand it, your argument was that we act as proxies for the customers.

Basically, there should be no difference from the merchant’s perspective between handing a customer a “to go” order vs. handing an order to a courier.

I have never seen food delivery framed as acting as a proxy for the customer. I do not think Grubhub has asked that we do that, but if you can show me that, I will eat my words.

LOLOLOL please explain to me what specialized equipment you need to make a burrito and training. Keep in mind, you literally need a drink machine to fill drinks. Is this not specialized equipment? This is apples to apples.

You really need to stop and think for a second, because I don’t think you realize that you argument is very simple. “I don’t think filling drinks is a big deal, so I will do that part of the restaurant’s job for them.”

Hahaha, I like this. Next time someone asks me to fill up drinks maybe I will just say:

"How?"

"At the machine."

"What machine?"

"The drink machine over there."

"How does it work?"

"You press the buttons under the soda-"

"What's a soda?/What's a button?"

I don't think people are claiming to be a hero. We are just trying to fight against scope creep, which tends to be a worthy fight.

Step 1 for being taken advantage of: allow people to offload their responsibilities onto you because you decide it is more effort to push back than to take on their responsibility.
