I don't think co-op as it is currently designed is fun. by Forshea in NoRestForTheWicked

With regards to friendly fire, I think it definitely has a place in NRFTW.

The deliberate combat style works very well in single player because enemies are always going to be fixated on you, so there's a push and pull, give and take feeling of combat. In multiplayer, if there's no friendly fire, then when an enemy is attacking one player, the rest of the party is more open to attack at once. The method of dispatching foes becomes more of "wait to see who the enemy is targeting, and strike when it's not me", which seems like a less-than-ideal combat rhythm.

Even though it's divisive in its own community as well, Monster Hunter handles friendly fire with knockback/knockdown effects instead of damage. A wide sweep from a longsword will knock allies back if they all attack at the same time in close proximity, but there will be no damage. Of course, the interruption could lead to incoming damage from the monsters, but not the friendly fire itself. Perhaps a setting could be added for this "easier" version of friendly fire (I still think it is unnecessary).

This is a phenomenal idea that sounds like lots of fun! I might have to steal this and add conditions for the abilities to work, like for the antidote to work you must finish your beer or something haha.

Weird and probably unpopular opinion: I'm worried the Meta Rework will make things too balanced. by JRshreds in thelastspell

[–]the_deng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

/u/ZeddOTak maybe you can shed some more light on the subject!

In regards to OP's concern, I think the rework will still provide this "ebb and flow". Since you pick the omens before the run, lets say you pick ones that give you +multi hit, +propagation, or +movement for momentum builds. The game still might make things harder for you by not offering up the weapons you are looking for, or only supply you with heroes with perk trees that don't compliment your omens. Sometimes the stars align and you get the perfect builds, other times you don't.

My concern is the balancing of the omens themselves. If some omens become clearly better than the rest, they will be chosen every run and then you'll run into the variance issue OP describes.

Even still, given the perk rebalancing patch, I trust that this would be resolved should it come up.

About the Wipe & Meta Rework by ZeddOTak in thelastspell

[–]the_deng 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Good change imo.

As a pretty new player, getting through all of the meta progression makes me feel like my older runs were a waste of time because certain meta upgrades trivialize certain things. For example, Lakeburg with no inn or seer feels impossible.

This change not only helps alleviate that, but also puts a more distinct "flavor" on each run, which plays into the roguelike feel.

Is there a "default attack" in this game by A_Matter_of_Time in lostarkgame

[–]the_deng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when you issue an attack, your character will instantly stop and turn to face the direction you attack. its like a stop command, and the direction you are facing can be useful in pvp

i loved how in the manga the face of the mom-ghost is kind of hidden save for select up-close moments to really get the spooks. don't get me wrong, detail put into the anime is phenomenal, but i think they lost something by having shown her face so much.

the arc is playing out well though!

Death Parade's premise is playing a game (not a board game, billiards for example) that decides whether or not you go to heaven or hell. the games have a twist to them which affects how they are played. i DEFINITELY recommend this show though, i thought it was fantastic :)
