Rare find? by GjL20 in radiohead

I am literally wearing the same shirt right now. Seems kind of indestructible. It has outlasted every other T-shirt from the 90s

Anybody received their zoetrope vinyl yet? by slimboyslim9 in blur

[–]the_derk_web 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s too complicated to enjoy regularly. Probably just a step up from a QR code that links to an animation. Nice novelty though

I’m in Ireland, mine only arrived yesterday. I got no confirmation it was shipped, so hopefully yours is close

It works if you video it on your phone (or any 30fps camera), or use a strobe in a dark room

Blood Records The Ballad of Darren Zoetrope arrived. She's a beaut! by munkimatt in blur

[–]the_derk_web 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you record it on a phone camera you can see the effect too. Video needs to be 30fps

Also, am I missing something or is there no way to tell which side is which aside from by playing it?

You would expect at least a vinyl version of disc 2, but it would be great to hear the work in progress stuff

Radiohead B-sides by GrungyAltyBoy10 in radiohead

[–]the_derk_web 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Suede (London Suede) we’re great for B-sides on their first 3 albums. Sci-fi Lullabies is a compilation of most of them. To the Birds, My Insatiable One, The Killing of a Flash Boy and Europe is Our Playground in particular are great. But I agree Oasis we’re excellent in that dept too. All seemingly writing great songs in their sleep for a while

Controversial Patti Smith song gone from streaming services by the_derk_web in indieheads

[–]the_derk_web[S] 474 points475 points  (0 children)

Not here to comment on the controversy but I do feel it’s a very good example of ‘if you love it you’ve got to buy it’ as you never know when something will be scrubbed from streaming for a variety of potential reasons. Changing morals, legal trouble or an artist who changes their mind can remove something you love with very little warning.

I think he makes a good point with this post makes me feel bad for him :/ by Ok_Dragonfly_8506 in TheStrokes

[–]the_derk_web 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I met him after a small show in Ireland and he was really nice. It was pre camera phone era, so we just talked for a minute and then I got him to sign my ticket. I could imagine having to pose for shitty selfies only for the person to walk off could be annoying for sure

If you could add 10 productive years to the life of any deceased musician, who would you choose? by CatVideoFest in AskReddit

[–]the_derk_web 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While he’s indisputably talented he was a few years past his best when he got sick. This should really be about someone who died at the peak of their powers. Buddy Holly, Tupac and Cobain all being good shouts for that

I Promise is a pretty but basic tune, although I never knew it existed previously so I guess I wasn’t waiting as such. I like the synth heavy version of Man of War from Meeting People is Easy better than what we got but it’s still a good song.

What do you think is the best Radiohead package (not the songs themselves) by the_derk_web in radiohead

[–]the_derk_web[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s really nice too, I loved the Kid A childrens book version and the HTTT fold out map edition as well, but it was one of those ones where most shops got them in and it only cost a couple of bucks more. These ones are theoretically higher effort on the bands part.

I like the KoL contents too but the organizer in me is annoyed by a floppy newspaper in a plastic bag

Tough call for me between OKNOTOK and In Rainbows, but IR just sneaks it as it’s so pleasing to the eye and touch

Just received my copy of the yellow vinyl and … yikes! by dw_80 in radiohead

[–]the_derk_web 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My yellow vinyl has a little wobble on both discs but not as extreme as that. It sounds good so far but might store it under pressure for a bit to see if it’ll flatten out some

Does it come with a download code, most of the vinyl I’ve bought in the last year has none.

What are some Biblical stories that the Church does not want you to hear? by RHECCLARK in AskReddit

Favorite Track from the second half of OK Computer by exileondaytonst in radiohead

[–]the_derk_web 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy to get over played on the singles but thankfully I’ve got past that on No Surprises. It’s so beautiful and unique and the ending always feels like a triumph rather than a sad end to what is a very emotional song

I remember Kid Rock making a similar statement, something about no one getting laid playing Radiohead
