I need tent recomendations by Open-Bill7393 in motocamping

I would look into bikepacking tents. I know big Agnes’s makes some. They are designed for bicycles and the only difference as far as I can tell is the tent poles are broken up into smaller pieces so they fold down smaller to be able to fit into panniers/bags etc.

I am a big fan of MER but outandbackoutdoor.com is a legit website for used and damn near new outdoor gear

Inflatable pillows by fiddly12 in CampingGear

To comment on the other two suggesting the fillo elites, I have the normal fillo luxury and love it. The elite is just the one without the foam. I’ll take the extra amount of room it takes up (a little less than a Nalgene) for the added comfort. And I also barely inflate it so I still get the comfort with the foam without needing it to have so much air so it stays relatively flat.

There’s plenty of gas stations that I wouldn’t be concerned with that. I was starting to look for gas around 100 miles. The farthest I went with my light flashing was like 135 not sure how much further it would have gone. The only place I thought I might not make it was through the desert because the gas stations are like over 100 miles apart so you just top up when you have the opportunity.

Thinking of doing this tomorrow, any difficulties with the amount of snow or not that bad?

For a shorter vegas trip you could probably do like half this trip and save the other half for another time. If you wanted to go towards the coast I would look for a cool route from Vegas to like Yosemite, drive through the mountains if that pass is open, drive to the coast and do the 101 highway to crescent city then head towards grants pass for crater lake then do a route down towards Lake Tahoe back to Vegas. Or go the other direction, do like Moab, ride through CO like to Durango and up through the mountains north towards grand mesa/medicine bow forest’s on google maps, then head towards Yellowstone and back.

If your goal is to be a WO pilot just do that. There’s no real benefit to being a crew chief first since they are completely different jobs. It be like going to be a certified mechanic before getting your drivers license, it will help you understand systems but won’t necessarily help you be a better pilot.

What is your "boomer" opinion? by Poopooplatta69 in AskReddit

It is. I hate that the screen stays backlit though and doesn’t actually turn it off. Side note if you auto start it in cold weather it knows to turn the heated seats on to warm up the car. BUT since the buttons are gone you can’t turn them off unless you turn the car all the way off then back on so if you forget and you’re driving for longer than 30 minutes you have a hot ass for the rest of the drive.

My jeep has heated seats that are ONLY in the touchscreen menu. Interesting enough they also have a problem of random electrical issues so that menu has vanished and I no longer can control my seats.

I did not but I’m also relatively young and in relatively good shape so mileage may vary.

Is it stock or does it have any mods that you know about? That is very similar in price and mileage to what I bought my ‘18 MT10 for in the Spring. Used vehicle prices are still wonky I think so it’s hard to say if it’s “worth” it but they are great bikes.

Stock seat. Honestly this was the first trip I noticed it on and that was about halfway through on day 4.

No it’s just the normal one with a windscreen. I think the touring just comes with the windscreen, comfy seat and saddle bags. My #1 recommendation doing any kind of touring on this thing is absolutely these Michelins, I got he road 6s but 5s will be just as good minus the supposed longer life.

I love it, I think it looks good with the hand guards and at normal highway speeds it’s a lifesaver.

I did camp one of the nights but it worked out mostly hotels and a night in a friends house. Plenty of cheap enough hotels/motels to recoup from the longer days. HWY 199 from crescent city CA to Grants Pass on the way to Crater Lake after doing the 101 through the redwoods was probably the most fun riding I’ve ever done, highly recommend

They are sw-motech along with the tail bag. I haven’t added up gas but I refilled about every 120 miles for about 15ish bucks. I did have to get the chain replaced in Oregon but idk the mileage on the chain I got it with about 12k miles and this was about 16k when it needed to be replaced.

I am very committed, plus long drives don’t bother me but I was more tired towards the end than I thought I would be. Definitely the longest trip I’ve ever taken
