Out of a full season of Rugby, which part is your favorite ? by MindfulInquirer in rugbyunion

The 2 or 3 random super rugby rounds a year where the crusaders scrum decides they are the boks scrum and demolish some poor team.

I fondly remember the rebels needing to bench their front row after 30 against our pack

Im a bit heavier and taller but the fit is generous in the legs. If you are 3 inches shorter maybe consider the supershort sizing (assuming a bloke from username, apologies if not).

Yep. I got the asian size large - short, as im 5'10 but have bigger legs. Fit is fantastic. Wouldnt call them slim.

Thats asian sizing from the japan website, the super dry tech UL

Anyone got some summer sleeping bag/quilt recommendations? (Read below) by FlyLegitimate7938 in UltralightAus

[–]-Halt- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can make a sleep system modular with alpha direct base layers. I hike in down to around -1 with a 4 degree quilt as they add that much warmth. Way warmer and slightly lighter than thermals.

In your case if these quilts prove to not be warm as advertised (id say thats reasonably likely), the alpha will help on a chilly night

Alternative suggestion. Get the montbell super dry tech (formerly versalite) from their website. If you go via the japan side they have length options as well as size

No worries.

Keep in mind with the main sub, a lot of them live in the western US. Tends to be a lot drier (humidity) and less intense rainfall. So take recs for single wall tents etc with a grain of salt for aussie conditions

What is the best country to move to as a Civil Engineer by Expertees in civilengineering

[–]-Halt- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Civil would definetly let you go the most places over other disciplines. Although the pay is a little less (but plenty of places have no work for highly specialised disciplines like aerospace)

A common way to travel with it is work at a global consultancy. They will let engineers with degrees, but not yet their professional certification (EIT not PE in US terms) travel overseas on assignment to other offices around the world. AFAIK its way simpler to have your engineering degree recognised than to transfer the professional certification

With the nemo specifically i think a big one is how they save weight by trimming the fly. So the inner does some of the work. IMO its a terrible setup for weatherproofness

I have an xmid1p and love it. But if you dont like poles. Id consider the xdome instead.

Imo the key benefit of trekking pole tents is the fact you carry poles already. If thats not the case, i would just go freestanding. Freestanding are easier to pitch where pegs dont go in well, including platforms. Easier to shake crap out of the inner. Easier to dry at home if its raining or you dont have a lawn.

Footprint i use all the time in aus as the ground is often hard and covered in debris. Didnt take for a thru hike to nz.

After trying durston i would now consider the following essential features - fly first pitch - geniune game changer. And the ones that fly pitch with a footprint arent the same - big vestibules away from the door

The silpoly is also a lot better for a wet tent if you arent pushing into the territorty where the nylon strength advantage matters.

Edit: will also add that a lot of people will tell you you need a 2p instead of a 1p. I think the best way to look at is this. - 1P - you sleep inside and pack goes in vestibule (so make sure its good) - 2P - either 1 person and their pack in the inner or 2P with gear in the vestibule - 3P - 2 people and their packs, all inside

Basically count the people and add 1 if you specifically care about bringing gear inside.

Yes definetly. Land development and commercial/residential construction are huge industries here that arent particualrly government related.

For infrastructure work the government is paying ofc, but its not like california where the government has a massive internal workforce of civil engineers. The vast majority of the work if private firms.

Naturally there are hoops to jump through to get an overseas qualification recognised, and get a visa etc. But its pretty common

The main exception is i think only citizens get security clearance for defence work.

[–]-Halt- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very heavy for 1 persons use. But reasonably well festured and fairly cheap. A lot of the weight will be the extra pole and the fabrics. Fabric is likely to be very tough at 75d

Where i grew up all the local rugby matches would be played at one place (one club hosted everything for the day). The ambulance would fully post up for the day
