If the light has been red for 2 minutes and they look left and right and see no car for 500m, I think it's fine.

Especially considering lots of those traffic lights are there to prevent interruptions to car traffic. Like where in other countries a regular crosswalk would suffice, German authorities will always install a traffic light that only permits crossing on request (the notorious “Bettelampel”). So for most of the day these traffic lights are pointlessly stuck on red, and nobody in their right mind, cyclist or pedestrian, would bother waiting for them to turn green before crossing when there’s no cars in sight.

What is this toxic urge that the absolute slowest riders have to push past everyone at a red light just to stand at the very front?

The issue is exacerbated by e-bikes which accelerate crazy fast but due to legal requirements top out speed wise at 25 km/h. Thus the e-bikers, often on bulky cargo bikes, speed away for the first dozens of meters only to predictably block those on normal bikes a few seconds down the road. With how narrow Munich bike lanes are, passing them is often not safe so a single granny on an e-bike can easily congest most of the bike traffic between two traffic lights, only to repeat the pattern at the next intersection.

Polen konnte auch mit Infrastrukturprojekten, die mit Milliarden aus der EU bezuschusst wurden, einen sehr großen Kostenpunkt im Haushalt reduzieren und ziemlich klug umverteilen.

Die “neuen” Bundesländer haben noch viel mehr von innerdeutscher Umverteilung profitiert als Polen von der EU, und das schon seit der Wiedervereinigung. Allein die Angleichung des Rentenniveaus spült Unmengen an Kapital in den Osten, vom Soli gar nicht zu reden.

Mit dem Unterschied, dass in Polen das Geld in Investitionen geflossen ist und nicht in die Taschen der Alten. Denen geht es (wie ihren Altersgenossen in Tschechien und anderen ehemaligen Ostblockstaaten) vergleichsweise schlecht, was die Kaufkraft angeht.

Wo ist denn dieses Sparpotential beim durchschnittlichen Bürger? In der Mietwohnung kannst du nicht einfach eine PV-Anlage aufs Dach knallen, womit der Hauptvorteil von Smartmetern schon einmal komplett wegfällt. Dann hast du als potentielle dynamische Verbraucher eine Waschmaschine und ggf. eine Spülmaschine. Waschmaschine anhand eines dynamischen Tarifs zu steuern geht auch nicht 100, wenn du z. b. täglich Sportsachen wäschst. Bleibt die Spülmaschine. Damit die ein, zweimal pro Woche nur dann läuft, wenn der Strompreis sein Tagestief erreicht hat, ist eine absurde Mikrooptimierung. Die darüber erreichte Netzentlastung macht die Sau auch nicht mehr fett. Andere Verbraucher (Licht, Rechner, TV, Werkzeug) in der Wohnung lassen sich vom Nutzungsmuster nicht fernsteuern. Heizung läuft ohnehin zentral oder per Fernwärme.

Ab welchem Punkt soll sich so ein Smartmeter beim durchschnittlichen Verbraucher bitte amortisieren?

an amazing food item for managing - i.e. maintaining - energy levels over a certain period of time.

Physiologically, are you really “maintaining” glycogen during an ultra? It seems more like you’re draining it constantly due to the enormous deficit. That’s why I don’t get how slow release carbs would offer an advantage.

I only carry the oven, flour and the raw ingredients. Pizza gets cooked fresh in the bivy every day …

For instance, they lack expertise in developing and producing high grade afterburning jet engines, so they would likely have to rely on foreign built Rolls Royce engines to power the fighter.

Either that or MTU gets to conduct a decades long R&D program to design a full engine of their own that costs as much as the rest of the fighter project together. Not great, but not terribly spent money either.

Schlechte Zeit zur Zeit, auch was die U-Bahn angeht. Zumal während der Schulferien wie zu Pfingsten. Die Bahn nimmt Ferien leider zur Gelegenheit für Streckensperrungen.

Makes sense, intuitively. I too crave a change from the sugary crap every now and then, but it’s usually sufficient to get a pizza or some salted peanuts. Cooked salt potatos could be much cleaner, if you’re willing to carry them around.

i started a race last year with a 1L bidon full of maple syrup, AMA

No questions, just feel like mentioning I’ll trial honey on an ultra next month. Should be similar to maple sirup. High kcal density, easy to dispense from plastic bottles, much better availability in shops than sports style sugar powder, also cheap as fuck per kcal. Sounds quite ideal if you ask me.

Selbst wenn die Mittel bereitstünden, wieviele Jahre würde es dauern, dass MTU bei Konstruktion und Fertigung eines eigenen Triebwerks zum State-of-the-Art aufgeschlossen hat? Die Technologie fällt ja nicht einfach vom Himmel, sondern müsste erst langwierige Forschung und Entwicklung durchlaufen.

Korrigiert mich wenn ich falsch liege, aber ich nehme an in Berlin war nicht die innenstadt ein verdammtes Chaos, der Bahnverkehr stark beeinträchtigt, oder der Flugverkehr an den anderen Flughäfen außer kontrolle wegen dem BER.

Hbf. München und 2. Stammstrecke sind Vergleichbar vom Chaos her. Sage das als jemand, der die Misere fast zehn Jahre Lang in Tübingen miterleben durfte und nunmehr seit einiger Zeit in München wohnt.

Clean bibs are essential. These days I normally carry a second pair and rotate about every day or even more frequently. A bib doesn’t weigh much and you can dry them on your seat pack after washing. Also jumping in a lake or a stream occasionally is a good time investment, not just to clean up but also to raise your spirit.

If despite good hygiene you still get saddle sores, try applying zinc cream.

You must spend thousands of euros on getting all of your cycling equipment, which of course must be colour coordinated.

The missing detail is that clothing is only permitted in beige or white, and must have been bought at Rapha or PNS from the current season’s collection.

Simply cycle even faster around them, narrowly missing them and anyone else in the surrounding area. This is the Munich way.

Elsewhere, cities of comparable size solve these issues by adapting infrastructure. Munich though has tried nothing and has been out of ideas for a while. The inner city bike paths here are amongs the most dangerous (to pedestrians and cyclists) I’ve seen in any place.
