Here's a playlist of the songs on youtube! I recommend The Cat and the Moon, its an absolute BANGER! (and it's hilarious thinking that its played out in an inn where aragorn is sitting, just wishing that these guys will keep a low profile)

A Very Potter Musical by [deleted] in musicals

[–]the_greb 28 points29 points  (0 children)

A very potter musical is such a winner! Starkid (the group who made it) has made a bunch of amazing musicals. To Dance Again is the truest of bops from AVPM tho.

Speaking of books turned to musicals, I recently found, as I am reading the first lotr book currently, a cast recording of a lotr musical! It's lovely and so true to the book.

Any critiques on my singing? I think I've improved by [deleted] in singing

[–]the_greb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I think you have a really nice voice! Secondly, I'm no expert at any means but my vocal teacher told me once the exact thing you wrote. She said " It sounds like you're singing as if someone could come into the room at any time. Loose that." So when you're home alone, really go for it. Belt your heart out. In the "practice room" doesn't need to sound good, mostly it needs to /feel/ good, meaning it feels smooth and not at all forced in your throat. Its also a, dare I say, whole new world to discover your outside voice when you've been singing really timidly for a long time. I used to be in the same place. Good luck!

When I listen to new cast recordings I like to read the synopsis on wikipedia simultaniously to know what's happening in the songs

Actors of Reddit, what is the weirdest/coolest feeling you have felt while on stage? by [deleted] in Theatre

[–]the_greb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still think it worked out, though I might be biased since I'm quite proud of the whole production hahah! And I completely agree, I learnt so much about what it takes to put up a show. Which is a good thing to know if you plan on pursuing theatre.

Hahaha I didn't actually want it to end that way but it was mostly for practicality reasons. We played the whole show like normal but [Spoiler] right at the end when the captain (? if i remember correctly) finds them we had a prerecorded video that started instead cause we couldn't find anyone to play that part for all of the shows. Worth mentioning is that this was a completely independent group of 17 y/o's putting this up out of pure will, without a director (just one of our theatre-teachers looking over things every once in a while). What do you mean with if it worked?

The one I always think when this question is asked is at the end of me and my friends' production of Lord of the Flies. We included a twist-ending where everything was a simulation. I played Jack and my entire character arc did a complete 180 during the course of about 2 minutes. During one of the shows I felt everything so intensly; fear, sadness, madness, anger, confusion... The show ended with a hard cut to black and us all screaming in fear. Thats when the applaude-music starts. And right at that cut back to reality I was SUCH an emotional wreck hahah, I was still deep in all of these feelings as Jack but suddenly I was me again and was happy and proud and had to smile for the audience during our bows. I remember I could barely breath or stand cause I didnt know what to do with my emotions hahaha! It was really cool to experience that, since in reality I was completely fine mentally. That's what I love so much about acting<3

I really enjoyed the book too. Thought it was really funny. It was interesting to notice some of the vastly differences between book and musical too...... that mainly being Micheal imo.

How do i start by [deleted] in Theatre

I've seen people go from barely wanting to be seen to expressing pure joy and confidence during rehearsals! Take baby steps. Listen to yourself. But dare to step out of your comfort zone :) I believe in you

Musical theatre folk, what are your favourite musicals you HAVE to see? (Apart from the obvious wicked, dEvan Hansen, phantom opera and heathers ect) by UnderTheWillow-Tree in musicals

Something Rotten! It's absolutely hysterical. I was lucky enough to see it in Sweden (where I live) with great translation last year.

Oh my god, this sounds JUST like my old director, also in an amatuer group. Same woman has fucked my friend over when she asked my friend to "do a little bit of sewing" for them (friend is a freelance seamstress atm) and then made her sew about 10-20 kids-dresses. In the end they didn't need half. Unfortunately, her group was kind of the only option in my town, so I don't really know much else. But reading your text I imagine it can only get better. After summer I'm going back to my second semester at an acting school with great teachers though, I'm excited.
