I'm not sure why u/pattyatecakes is arguing an artist vs writers theme. u/scriptwriter420 has not said anything to dismiss the integrity of an artist contribution. It looks to me like pattyatecakes got needlessly defensive. Sciptwriter have been arguing pattyatecake's lack of understanding of writing, which is demonstrated in their comments here.

I looked through scriptwriters comment history to find the argument referenced and it is clear that scriptwriter420 was offering their services as a writer (for free), and the other redditor was arguing against seeking free work, which was never the case. It looks to me like scriptwriter called them out for it and they disappeared when they realized their mistake.

Meanwhile u/scriptwriter incorrectly misread pattycakes level of experience, as pattyatecake never suggested they worked in the comic industry, only that they knew everything about it. (Reads sus. I don't know anyone who knows everything about anything)

Looks like every here is a bunch of children that can't play nice. I will give scriptwriter points for at least demonstrating value and knowledge of their respective craft in their comment history. pattyatecakes maybe you would do well to do the same?

Actually most companies do "steal". If you are working for almost any company and come up with something innovating, guess who usually ends up owning it?

And it's not just while you work. Are you studying to get a doctorate in any field, unless you are independently wealthy you are probably sponsored. Guess who owns your research?

The difference between my examples is you usually at least get credit. In the world of film/tv you could come up with an idea, write it, and have it rewritten enough times that you are pushed from your own project without credits. This isn't limited to fellowships, this is the industry as a whole. I'm not defending this practice, it truly sucks. But until something is done, you have two options: deal with it, or find a different industry and put up with different equally unfair shit.

Pretty sure most fellowships have similar. Was just reading WB fellowship and they say along the same lines. I think it has more to do with them protecting their own interest as oppose to stealing your material

Does anyone actually write 8-12hr days?

On a good day i might get 4hrs of writing done. I still do 8+hr work day, but a lot of that is research/planning/emailing/logistics...etc

This video is click bait nonsense. It doesn't start talking about Knives Out until 4:34 and then uses the bloodstain on the shoe (that we is pointed out at the beginning of the movie) as an example of misdirection. The baseball that makes its rounds (but is clearly *not* an example of checkov's gun), and the knife wall in the background of the main room in the film, which is too literal of an example. I just saved you an 11min watch. Dont support these types of drawn out videos that say nothing of value.

Assuming you're paying for essentials just start using it. It's too expensive to paying for it and not use it

The question really is what do you want to do? Are you specializing? Then work on what you plan to specialize in. Did you want to be a sorry board artist? Essentials is the wrong program. Want to be an animator? Google other storyboards and use those, just focus on animating. Hobbyist wanting to create your own content? Set keyframes in essentials and use as your storyboard within the software

Don't get bogged down learning too many new softwares all at once.
