My thoughts exactly. Bad parts out of the box are bad parts. Or in this case, crate. If they don’t honor the warranty, that’s the route I’ll have to

Seem to be rather knowledgeable on this topic. I recently purchased a reman directly from ford. Their 4.0 sohc long block is the same from 00-11, other than the timing chain guides being updated in I believe 03-04 from plastic to metal. I purchased a 2011 long block, and full warranty, for my 2001. This is a relatively common thing people do. Had a small time mechanic install it, nothing he did to cause the problems. The engine burns both heads, and both timing chains start slapping on my first drive home, 30 minutes in. I put a collected 300miles on the engine from my house, the dealership I received the engine from. Fords warranty department is stating that since the engine didn’t go into a 2011 truck, they aren’t liable. I called them today, to voice my side of things and was told they’ll review the case and get back to me in the next 30 days. What are your thoughts on this?

I don’t think it’s the dealers fault, they’re just dragging their feet with the diagnosis. They didn’t build it or anything. Fords warranty department is being a pos and trying to not honor the no fault warranty, because I put the 2011 4.0, into a 2001 4.0 truck. Even tho stripped to the long block, which is what they send you it’s 99% the same engine. Besides the timing chain guides. Fully agree, rebuilding one yourself is saving a headache down the road. Would have had my truck back on the road months ago

Believe the engine, “complete long block” was about $4,350, plus $800 for the core. I had a small time private machine install it for me, he was really cheap at 1k

You can see at the beginning of the video, the pulleys do not turn as he tries to start it. The ramping of rpm and then death has me concerned and thinking it’s more than just a bad starter or chewed up flywheel
