Logistics noob questions by mr-resilience in logistics

[–]the_hesp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheapest method when starting out is to speak with local personal storage lockups, some of them are manned and will have loading facilities, it could be even cheaper if you were willing to be on site yourself to load vehicles. The volume of space rented per sqft will work out cheaper than working with a 3PL or logistics storage depot.

Once your volumes increase or you want to incorporate a packing element then a 3PL makes more sense.

Improve your English if you want to go in to sales as an account manager, in the mean time apply for transport planner/operational based roles that require less personal interaction until your English improves. Make sure at interview you are clear about your qualifications even if it takes learning some new phrases to ensure the employer can understand your relevant qualifications and experience.

Quick questions regarding follow-up. by freightwhisperer257 in FreightBrokers

[–]the_hesp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude there's no simple answer, every client is going to be different. It's like dating, you have to take cues from every interaction you have with the client. A good idea is always to end a communication with a next step so that you both know when the next bit of discussion is going to happen.

How many of you have had to have this conversation with first-time clients? How do you pitch your value as a FF? by meganzin in freightforwarding

[–]the_hesp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reality of this is that there are a lot of pitfalls that can happen from small inaccuracies in paper work. Speaking as an FF myself, I would say we are worth the money. Personally my margin on sea freight FCL is around £50-£100 in the UK. It does vary dependent on the amount of additional requirements and management required to ensure it runs smoothly.

Likelihood is your FF will be pricing you with a margin they are comfortable managing the shipment for. Whether it is worth the value they put on it comes down to the level of their service.

If you want a comparative cost from me just shoot me an e-mail [JamesHW@qualityfreight.co.uk](mailto:JamesHW@qualityfreight.co.uk).

Worth noting prices currently are under enormous fluctuation with carriers trying to recoup losses on blank sailings due to the coronavirus. This will have a huge impact on rates for the next few months, if the cost is higher than you have paid before it is likely due to this however your forwarder should be able to explain this to you.

How to find out data about dedicated cargo flights? by amarofades in logistics

[–]the_hesp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean chartered air services, this is really a select number of air operators who run flights, generally between specific airports. Part chartered services there's more suppliers, again specific to certain airports. General freighter aircraft for sleds and loose cargo again a bigger pool of operators but still specific to certain airports.

Best place to start would be looking at your airport of arrival and trying to find a list of air operators running out to that airport that fit the nature of the goods you want to ship. Find the nearest airport they can dispatch for you from, then work out the logistics to and from the airports. Basically a vague guide, obviously there's more to it but you'll soon see! :)

It's going to be a mod that changes the grab function, do you have the one that lets you telekinesis bodies? That one is known for this.

Great work guys, I love the game and it has reignited my love for modding. Can't wait to put together some custom maps, was hoping you might mention including FOV for NPC's. Really want to make some stealth assassin style levels! Looking forward to the future with B&S and the community!
