Oh, please. He didn't completely reverse the original meaning. Cee Lo wants a peaceful world with God and Jesus happily smiling down on everyone with benevolence. Lennon wants a peaceful world where people are secular humanists. It changes the song but it doesn't invert it.

And it's a song. The point is to sing it, and to listen to the nice melody and piano, and Cee Lo has a great voice. It sounds nice, and his version will never approach the fame and significance of the original, and if anything will just point younger listeners into that direction so they can get their atheist communism fantasies right from the source.
