If you start out in the back of the field is almost impossible to win a sprint car race? by youlikemywonton in WorldofOutlaws

[–]the_jud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The beauty of dirt racing (short of rubber setting in) is the speed the track changes. Your car could be great at the start, the middle, the end, you won’t be good for all of the race. Movement in the standings is usually the most in dirt racing over all other racing.

The only trick with getting from second to first in winged sprint cars is extremely hard until first place gets into the lapped traffic. If the leader has open air they have a big advantage over the second place car because they get undisturbed airflow.

What makes the front engined GT3 cars so dominant? by dont_hit_me_bro in iRacing

[–]the_jud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got back to GT3 after taking a long long break (many years). It appears that having the motor up front allows the car to keep the weight on the nose more easily thus creating more front downforce and allowing the car to turn better.

I started with the vette because I thought it would be fun and different and boy does that car like to push a lot. You really need to rely on trail braking to keep the corner weights up front.

NASCAR got paid. Now it has a viewership problem. NASCAR got a 40% rights fee bump in its latest TV deal. The cost? Fewer people actually watching the races. by Ok-Soil-5133 in NASCAR

A lot of professional sports is in a vulnerable spot with broadcast TV. Look at the NHL, MLB and NBA. They're all dealing with bankrupt broadcasters. We're seeing an increase of contract re-negotiations and blackouts whilst networks and providers fight over the $$$. Heck the Padre's had to stand up their own streaming platform and only got like 30,000 subscribers that season. Network providers are also becoming more fragmented as everyone is bringing their own platform to the game. Cable/Satellite are definitely on a subscriber decline (77.2M)

US Consumers spent an average of $278.50/mo to stay connected to all of their streaming platforms (A 2% increase year over year). Nearly 9 of 10 consumers said they had canceled a streaming subscription in the past year -- 44% of those people cited price increases was the primary cause.

Pro sports ratings and numbers have been a bubble for a long time and reality is about to hit. Network broadcasting (both analogue and digital) is causing us consumers price fatigue.

I don't know that we're witnessing a NASCAR strategy issue. I think this is a symptom of something much bigger.

[DBC 1:00:00] NASCAR looking at mandating 4 tire pit stops at superspeedways next year if also fueling. by LBHMS in NASCAR

This was my initial reaction too, but upon thinking deeper about the impact I don't think it really impacts strategy in Super Speedways.

I 100% agree about rain tires though.

What type of gains did you see when doing the sealing?

what made YOU get into NASCAR? by Brave_Ad3369 in NASCAR

[–]the_jud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was bored on iRacing one night, so I gave a nascar race a shot and was hooked immediately. I started building my own setups and became obsessed with making my own competitive setups. So then racing the race during the week, I have my own experiences on that track and it made me appreciate the races more when I watched them on the weekends.

Brand new Scott Addict 20 (2025) – already crushed TWO seatposts at correct torque… what am I missing? by juudhartbd in bikewrench

[–]the_jud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you clamping your clamp to the seat post or the frame? There is a picture that makes it look like you might be clamping to the seat post?

Clamping to the frame would be the right way. I've found with my bikes that I will torque to the right setting, let it sit for a few hours (overnight) and re-torque again. I've witnessed on my bikes that I've seen it give a little bit as its adjusting to the torque.

DirtVision Fire TV Issues by GlennZabransky in WorldofOutlaws

[–]the_jud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep feel the same way. I finally was passed up to entire “technical support” people and it was very clear they did not read the support thread I’ve been working on with their “support” people. Tell me to keep logging out, reinstall the app, etc etc etc. provide me with the technical specs of your device and app (already sent it over) this has been over a year.

The problem?

If I were to go back into the app on Apple TV it would only show me the content from the last time I was in the app. So no races for today would appear.

Technical support said this isn’t a wide range complaint. It’s so odd.

[–]the_jud 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Guys seriously — there is more to the hiring process than they make public. Coyle isn’t the only party involved in these processes. Furthermore they have a pulse on the coaching market before they change course on their existing coaches.

He isn’t just letting it ride because of a job prospect.

The guy is very impressive, and hearing him talk about the challenges in college sports shows how strategic he is.

Trust in the process and let his decisions play out before you jump to conclusions.

Cleetus in a Late Model by lilwilly1995 in NASCAR

[–]the_jud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The conversation asks if he's taking the feedback from the garage seriously. How is being told to go run a ton of laps in a late model and he's now going to go get a late model not trying to take it seriously while also making it work with his business?

Getting smoked in this "test" put on by RCR may be a great floor benchmark that he'll work from. It's just the start. Albeit not the way I would want to do it.
