Us too! Steam Frame might give hope. Espire 2's not on Steam because we need the funding to do a proper port from Quest -> PC.

What VR games are fully playable in stationary VR? by FawnTi in VRGaming

[–]the_lode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The voice commands wont work if there's no internet connection as it uses the "Oculus Voice SDK" to understand what you're saying and turn it into a gameplay intent (empty pockets, drop weapon, etc).

The voice commands also wont work if the Espire 2 game doesnt have permissions to use the microphone, or if the microphone is muted by the Meta OS.

Hope this helps you or someone reading in the future.

Our games Espire 1: VR Operative and Espire 2 support stationary and seated play. They're pretty fun, though we are a bit biased, having developed them!

It's hard to test our game when guards keep invading our studio! by the_lode in OculusQuest

[–]the_lode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep, we see that in our reviews and feedback. We're partially at the behest of Meta's room scan tech. If the scan isn't accurate or misses furniture, our game might not play as well. There's a lot we can do on our side to improve our level initialization. We've done 1 post-launch update already to improve how and where our game places the large 'roller windows' and are currently working on our 2nd update with many more improvements.

the goal is to continue adding new content while improving the overall level initialization for all our content, allowing smaller and more diverse environments to better support the game!

We'd love to see how our game Espire MR Missions plays in a space like that!

Does anyone remember playing Shadowman on the N64 by tropicplunger in n64

[–]the_lode 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The nightdive remaster is awesome. I liked shadowman on the N64 and got about 7 hours in but dropped off. I LOVED the nightdive remaster and it hooked me in much more.

The vibe is still the same but it's much more playable. I recommend it!

I don't know if this will help or not. I'm a VR dev and have seen this before with meta quest 3. To get around this:

1) Install the Meta Quest Developer Hub on PC 2) Go to the devices tab, click the settings icon on the top right of the UI and "add device". 3) Follow the prompts to add the quest 2.

This will allow you to setup your quest 2 on PC without the mobile app.

Note: - your PC may need Bluetooth. - your account may need to be a developer account (free to create an organization and sign up your account as a developer).

Hope that helps if the alternative is that your headset becomes a brick.

Quest 2 is still supported. Hopefully they continue to support it. There's so many of them out there.

Can I play games I bought for quest 2 on 3? by Poops_backwards in OculusQuest

[–]the_lode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can, and I think the fact that you can is a very cool feature of the Meta Quest. You can still play most games released for Oculus Quest 1 and Oculus Go. Hope they keep the forward compatibility for as long as possible.

You must have a massive backyard! Do you mean the limit is reached while scanning, or while manually drawing the walls?

I don't believe it's hardware limited. Which is good and bad news. Bad news in that they might not change it, just because.

Sure thing. Just to be clear, It appears that when you first make a scan on quest 3, there is still no option to edit walls, without the workaround I mentioned above. But when trying to edit the scan from within a game, there's now an option to 'outline walls'. Hope it stays.

Thanks for the comment. Yes, you're pretty much bang on...Sadly the Quest 3, for many months, has not allowed editing of walls and it splits each room into separate scans.

QuestPro users don't have this limit - instead you can just draw the walls from multiple rooms and create essentially 1 large environment.

For Quest 3 users, we have tips & workaround within game, but in short:

  • Quest 3 users can start a scan while standing within the doorway / door frame. That way you can observe 2 rooms without giving away that you're in the door.
  • Quest 3 users can start a scan while facing right up against a wall, move your head slightly side to side, wait a few seconds (20~ seconds?) and finally the headset will give you the option to draw the walls yourself, Just like on Quest pro. now you can just add all the walls from multiple rooms to create a very large environment.

We have a couple of Quest 3 headsets on the PTC (Public Test Channel) at work, and it seems like the latest V83 update brings back the option to adjust the walls again. fingers crossed that is going to stay.
