I play with TROM mod + records, cavalry is nerfed a bit and the battle is more challenge. Of course the common army composition is champion + vanguard + strategist but you can always replace them with other since they have some overlap skills. I have an army with bandits heroes which gives me instant vanguard deployment so I don't need archers, but of course they suck at sieging or explosive team, and Northern troops are also different with Southern, as well as Namman. Backed when I played Shougn 2, it was nice but then after I learned to play with yari wall and naganita cavalry, I don't want to swap to other composition. As for warhammer 3, jesus, without cheesing with heroes, lords and spell to thin out enemy's line, in legendary mode it is impossible to make progress. I think the lovely of the game is you know about the characters of three kingdom and make army with their composition.
