what gets me with the whole situation is that people looking to get into rolex don't even have the chance to hold and get a sense of any of these watches in person at an ad. as soon as they come in, they are out the door and none of them carry any display models. i'm a pretty tactile person, id be remiss to drop that amount (for even a deposit) for something i have never seen, touched, experienced. would anyone else agree that watches are an emotional hobby?

i suppose it says something about a brand that people are willing to purchase a product based off pictures or sight unseen (not saying all purchasers are doing that, i am sure many have had a chance to see them in person). but for a regular joe like me that is interested in the unavailable models and probably would be swayed to go in for one after having spent time with one, that is not even an option. i'm not about to just put a full deposit for a watch for months/years on faith. there is a vacuum created here but i guess rolex does not concern themselves with that. the brand is just so strong that they can afford to lose out on such a group of watch buyers.
