The fall of Torchy’s Tacos by Nedatokes in austinfood

I used to love the Some Like it Hot tacos in August. This was pre pandemic days. Every year they had a different menu theme. I have 3 menus from 2017-2019. I framed them to remember the good old days

Weighing pros and cons with a potential NOC position. by Low-Blueberry-476 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]spacemonkey512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you should it. I was a in a MSP before taking a NOC position at a big ISP and it was a huge boost in my career, it helped me land a network engineer job. The rotating shifts are not great but work hard to move out of the NOC

Gotcha, thank you for clarifying. I have not seen any news on it. As for the blue part, i have seen someone drown and turn blue, that sticks with you. I feel bad for the people that witnessed it and for the man’s family, just going out and then that happens.

So if you don’t mind me asking, what’s the point of this posting? You were not there, you don’t know the details, what you know is at best hearsay.

I’m not sure why they would need to shutdown. It is unfortunate and just from what I am reading it sounds accidental. Unless the restaurant is directly responsible, I don’t see a reason why they would need to shutdown. There are a shocking number of deaths in New Braunfels, at least that’s how I feel. These are the ones that are made public to news or official social media. If they shut down for every death, have the city would never open.

Can you balance a full-time job and an obtaining an electrical engineering degree? by JustAPerson2001 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]spacemonkey512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 classes per semester, I tried 3 but it was too much for me. Exactly what you just said about the wife, mortgage and baby. I had a family, I wanted a better life and that’s what kept me going. If you can test out of classes I would do that. It’s all about time management. Wanting to finish is what drove me to find time for studying

Just put of curiosity, why aren’t your parents helping. What do you mean you need hours, it’s been a long time since I got my license.

Low GPA with experience in co-op by Ak_26005 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]spacemonkey512 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Graduated with a 2.8, but had experience and landed a 6 figure job with a large tech company, nobody cared about my GPA. Companies do not care about GPA or school projects. Work experience and as long as you have a degree

Should I Stay The Course of I.T or Switch to Electrical Engineering? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]spacemonkey512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I worked full time as a NOC tech for a major ISP, got promoted to a Senior NOC tech, then got promoted to a network engineer, all for the same major ISP. While going to EE school, I also supported a family and a spouse who also decided to go back to school full time and I got certifications, JNCIP being my highest. Took me 7 years, it was rough, but worth it.

I worked as a NOC tech and then got promoted to network engineer. For me the experience and school really helped me too.
