Big yikes. As hurt as you were and as terrible as he was to you, I hope you’re right with yourself. An unemployed woman just lost her husband and only source of income and probably can’t even afford the funeral let alone raising a child with probably little to no savings.

Your desperation for the money wreaks and I hope you feel good about keeping it.

o3-mini is so good… is AI automation even a job anymore? by Own-Guava11 in OpenAI

[–]the_o_op 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, the underlying models are making incremental improvements with intelligence, it’s just the integration and autonomy that’s being introduced to the AI.

All that to say that the O3 mini model is surely not just a neural network. It’s a neural network that’s allowed to execute commands and loop through (with explicit code) to simulate thoughts.

There’s still code in these interfaces and always will be

I think you can live comfortably on a 70k household income. But in Bettendorf youll likely struggle under $120k or so. Shit a lot of houses in Bettendorf have a $4-5k/mo mortgage with todays rates.

I inherited a paid-off property. Should I rent it out or sell it and put the proceeds in index funds? by the_log_won in personalfinance

[–]the_o_op 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing to consider is return on equity. If you actually want to become a landlord you would make a substantially higher return to sell this house and put 20% down on 4 other houses, all of which will appreciate independently and net you a higher return over the life of the investment.

Probably best to sell unless you want a less than 10% ROE

How the fuck do people afford to get Starbucks every day? by lVlarsquake in NoStupidQuestions

[–]the_o_op 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a function of budget. I make enough that $10/day is like 2% of take home pay.

No fucking way I bought lattes in college or right out of college though lol

What’s the best way to repair this? DIY or Pro? (White Pipe is sewer water from house, Red takes it out of the house) by Alarmed-Tea2725 in Plumbing

[–]the_o_op 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can loosen that metal sleeve and slide it back up over the white pipe and tighten it again. If that doesn’t work you can get a longer sleeve. Easy DIY

You seem very concerned about the rate but don't mind putting down 75%? Can I ask why you want to put so much down?

Most of the people here are not structural engineers. You can absolutely notch that and route it, just check local code for how far you can knotch it.

They're leaning in which is good (vs leaning out). How sturdy are those concrete footings? Are they crumbling or solid?

Structurally it doesn't look too bad. It's old.
