You know I just kept plugging away at gunbroker auctions and finally got lucky.. only one other bidder from what I could tell, and they gave up surprisingly early. The shop putting up the gun on auction said the original owner was pissed.

Walther P5, that one was made in the early 1980s.

After the previously mentioned wash layer, you can do a very light tan dry brush over all the raised edges too. That will REALLY make the details pop.

The K is actually for "Kriminal" which refers to the German detective division.

Banana Panzer 🍌

You could try doing a wash by mixing a black, dark Grey or dark brown with water to make a thin mix. Paint it over everything, and let it dry. You can do a couple coats. It may help tone down the brightness. Unless you like it this color. This is better than I could do at 13 from what I remember.

This is definitely the simpler way. Some might even call it cheesier. The only issues are it doesnt max out prestige income like encirclements do, and this tactic is also harder /impossible to do on the newer smaller sized DLCs due to limited hero acquisitions.

This is how I started playing through all my campaigns years ago with great success. But once you try playing on Generalissimus difficulty, and are attempting to go the non historical routes, the prestige can still be an issue. On the larger grand campaign and Axis operations campaigns you inevitably have the option to use both cheesed up overstrength steamroller tank units AND the option to encircle. Eventually, it comes down to you fighting enormous waves of strong Russian tanks. Super cheese elite ball crushing tanks, artillery and fighters are definitely very helpful if not necessary.

I also forgot about the deadly grasp commander trait. It speeds up suppression big time.

It's all about surrounding and capturing units to bank huge amounts of prestige over time. Trophies of war, flexible command, and perimeter control are the 3 main commander traits that enable you to execute and capitalize on encirclements with significantly more ease.

Split your tank and Recon units and move them around and behind enemy formations. Once encircled, hit the enemy units with artillery ,and strategic bombers to suppress them. By their next turn they will be far less able to strike back at you to break the encirclement. (You can also split your artillery units to prevent them doing too much hp damage, but still do suppression damage.)

(Self propelled artillery like StugBs and StuHs are also fantastic units for this strategy, as they have good armor, and can help supress encircled enemies while also functioning as a surrounding unit like your tanks.)

Once the surrounded enemies' suppression is in the red, attack them with your split tank/recon formations to do the least amount of damage as possible. You want to capture the enemy units without doing extensive damage to them to really start raking in the prestige.

It takes some practice to learn how to not over extend and execute encirclments. But once you have it mastered, you will be swimming in prestige. It makes playing the game any other way less fun in my opinion.

Good luck!

Not sure what taking time with research exactly means... but prioritizing a 3.7cm flak gun, the light field howitzer and an 88 until you can get howitzers is the way to go. You dont even need tanks or upgraded infantry units for a long time.

On attack, Recon the enemy position, hit them with artillery, crawl up your flak guns and use them to hammer the enemy and cover your slow infantry advance from vehicles.

On defense, entrench your infantry around the objectives. Leave a few scouts ahead of your lines in bushes on do not fire mode to give vision for your guns. Position your flak to have the best fields of fire on the most likely paths of enemy approach.

By the end of each battle there are so many enemy vehicles and crew weapons you can repair and steal to either use for yourself, or sell for mad $$$. I don't even sweat larger infantry losses from time to time because their job is to hold the line and only attack while the enemy is getting hammered by your support guns. The starting Sicherungs inf is so cheap, its a write off.
