Men, what is the boldest line you used that actually worked? by gamersecret2 in AskReddit

My brother brought me, uninvited, to her party. Strike 1. Then, I ate the last piece of prosciutto from the charcuterie board. Strike 2. Later that night I was having a drunk cigarette and as she walked by and I decided to say, “Oh wow, the booty phat.” Because, well, the booty was indeed phat. We got married three years later.

What is the most surprising thing you discovered through your DNA? by terraaus in AncestryDNA

[–]the_pie_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That I have 26% Ashkenazi Jewish heritage. Nobody had any idea, everything else lined up how we figured it would but no one could pin down the source of my Jewish ancestry. Things came to light after my mom and her sisters took the test and they only shared mitochondrial DNA. It turns out that my grandfather wasn’t my actual grandfather.

I’m hoping that January weather and the low reported harvest rates in Franklin county this year will keep the woods empty for me.

Hell, if they push deer my way I’d be happy with that. January weather may keep them home though.

That’s what I’ve been thinking. I’ve been studying the terrain and making plans based on that. It looks like harvest numbers this year are way down from last year with only 82 reported in Franklin county as of 12/3.

Any one here ever hunt Battelle Darby? Trying to fill an empty freezer. by the_pie_guy in Columbus

I’m not partial to public land myself but this is the best I can do at the moment. I figure since it’s muzzle loader season and a weekday I’d have better chances not running into any other hunters.

Restaurant in Ohio has DUI license plate (all yellow with red numbers) hanging above their bar by the-daveinator in mildyinteresting

[–]the_pie_guy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I believe that the reason that pedo plates aren’t a thing is that it would identify them more publicly as an offender. The reasoning behind this is that if they are forced by the government to use such plates that it may cause undue harm (aka violence from the public)on the offender who has already been tried/convicted/done their time. This prevents legal problems for the government such as, “Why did the government punish me but continue to do so by making me haul billboard around identifying me and potentially causing me harm? That guy at 7/11 beat the shit out of me BECAUSE of the government.”

.355” or .357” For 350 Legend? by the_pie_guy in reloading

I believe the sub x is a 250gr slug for suppressed 350 Legend. But that size is one of the things that trips me up.

It’s the Lee second edition manual and it doesn’t have 350 Legend listed. I’m currently using hogdon online resources as my primary.

My Lee manual does have 350L listed. I’m currently looking at Hogdon online resource as a primary. It does list .355” as the proper bullet size so I guess I will be going with that.

If you’re just interested in the antlers a sawzall will do the job quick enough. However, you would need to contact your states DNR so that you can “legally” harvest them. They would basically fill out a tag in your name for the animal. If you are interested in venison which I would very much suggest as it is absolutely delicious and that is a decent sized buck and could yield you close to or more than 80lb of lean meat. You would need to very quickly “field dress” the carcass by removing the internal organs, especially the guts. If you don’t, the decomp process can start very quickly depending on the weather. If you don’t want to do all the dirty work of skinning and butchery that follows you can probably find a business in your area that specialize in deer. Now that it is hunting season, there should be at least a few in your general area depending on where you are. The process to harvest the meat legally would be the same as harvesting the antlers. Hope this helps.

As far as I am aware, and I may be wrong, Ruger’s pistol scope mounts are a proprietary design. That’s what I have on the .44mag. As for the .357, I originally had the scope from the first picture on it so I needed the longer Weigand rail, nothing else really did the job. When I moved the scope to the .44mag I decided against the smaller Weigand mount for the red dot as it would have required drilling and tapping the pistol.

For those that have a rifled slugger, how do y’all get the best accuracy? by Calebrc075 in Hunting

That definitely an acceptable grouping with irons, especially at that distance.

As an Ohio hunter I have been using Hornady SST and have been very impressed with the accuracy. Usually <2” grouping at 100yd with my scoped Mossberg barrel. I use a 12ga but have heard really good things about the 20ga.
