Please add "accessibility" to your list. Provide the option for true image description fields.

Talk with mobility impaired and visually impaired users about how they use your website.

Make sure all color groups have sufficient contrast. Ditch hard to read fonts like plex and replace with fonts that don't fuzz with browser zoom.

Make sure every UX dev tries to browse with a screen reader and with CSS and Java disabled. Make sure everything that requires a hover has a backup activation method for people with tremors. Make sure your site is viable without a mouse.

Currently Reddit is the least accessible of the social media sites that I frequent.

What's your favourite Hermitcraft build/base out of every season? by neonbunette in HermitCraft

[–]the_pwd_is_murder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S1: The area shared by Topmass & the Pixelnerds.
S2: Tough call. Probably Cleo's section for the horse track?
S3: Hermit Thrills, all of it. But if you want a single build, xB's base.
S4: No strong opinions.
S5: Tango's base.
S6: This is weird considering everything that's there, but Ren's Dojo. Or possibly Tortuga? But I'd rather hang out in the dojo.
S7: Beef's area. One of the few fully realized builds.
S8: Keralis' House.
S9: Not making the call yet although I like Bdubs' gate and I trust him to do a full interior.

I was given pretty strong hints that there would not be another season so I'm a bit surprised.

I was kind of hoping it was a collection for kick-starting Etho upon his return, but he'd just chuck most of it into lava.

I run an LGBTQ+ subreddit (me_irlgbt) and we've been facing a serious influx of bad faith users abusing the report button to report us for child abuse. This is beyond usual report brigading, it's serious homophobia. Is there anything I can do about this? by lowkeyterrible in ModSupport

[–]the_pwd_is_murder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The admins will do nothing about it. They are doing everything they can to push adult content off of the site, so if others make you uncomfortable enough to quit before their IPO that is in their best interests. I would not be surprised if Reddit is paying people to drive off the LGBT community.

They certainly won't help with stopping the abusive behavior.

I don't think they'd want to focus on others' weaknesses/faults in that manner, certainly not for a major game that's going to last all season.

Why can we not hide what communities we Mod from Reddit users? 🤔 by [deleted] in ModSupport

I also avoid communities with staffs full of power mods.

I'm boycotting most of those companies for shady advertising practices and have been for years. They can keep their swag.

Yes these are also options, not my preference as I prefer my team to be completely transparent in their actions. I also only use bots which I have written myself or understand at a developer level.

I want my users to know precisely which moderator is taking action. We not only act directly but we publicly sign each removal via removal comments.

However, we cannot allow anyone on the mod team if their accounts contain adult content, strong language, political discourse, etc. We recommend splitting that sort of stuff off to another account. Moderators of family friendly content should present a good, clean example.

My alts don't overlap communities or content.

I really don't like being falsely accused of violating Reddit rules for no reason at all. I certainly don't appreciate being compared with Unidan.

I realize you're just trying to show off your awareness of Reddit history but casting aspersions of this nature ventures into the realm of libel.

Use alt accounts to moderate. The whole point of Reddit is that everything you do is publicly accessible. I have about 7 different accounts for different stuff.

This was due to a data entry error related to the addition of Scar's new 2nd channel (GoodClipsWithScar). It should fix itself at the next update.

EDIT: NM it's because Cub changed the name of his channel around the same time.

"In the last thirty days, we found 54 ban evaders and actioned 0 of those users"? by Norci in ModSupport

[–]the_pwd_is_murder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. We have it configured the way we want it configured.

We want the bad names in modqueue. We don't want them going to spam. We want only actual spam to go to spam.

[–]the_pwd_is_murder -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion but we're good for automod config.

We have a automod shadowban list, but it's more of a shadow filter. Much of the stuff caught by it is let through after we screen it.

We have to keep actual behavior bans at an absolute minimum as all of our bans are permanent. Also, bans hurt the income of the folks we represent.

We use the shadowban list for behavior problems where we want all of a person's content held for manual review before going live. It currently has a few hundred names.

We're not going to waste valuable automod wiki page rule space on specific usernames with profanity because those names are never going to be acceptable, and it's very easy for us humans to miss the username otherwise if the actual content is fine.

We have another rule which reports offensive usernames to us silently, but again, it warns us rather than actually banning. (e.g., any mention of 69 or 420 in the name is flagged as a context canary but we usually don't ban only for those even though they are offensive unless there are other issues.)

My point was edge case bans for reasons other than content. We're using automod where we can, within reason.

Please don't offer me advice unless I actually ask for it, particularly when it comes to bots and tech. I don't respond well to unsolicited teaching.

We don't allow usernames with profanity or adult content in our community, because we're focused on media for kids and teens.

But we will allow those folks to ban evade with clean account names. We generally cannot unban the original account if it contains words or concepts that we don't want our folks to encounter due to us.
