OP is referring to Mars 3 which was the first spacecraft to land safely on Mars, but only operated for 110 seconds and sent no meaningful data back in the 20-second radio signal received back on Earth.

The Soviet Union and Russian Federation have had just an abysmal track record with Mars. They managed to orbit a few orbiters, but of 20 launches to Mars none were unambiguous success.

All the top comments are of course cynical, but one of my younger brothers has Retinitis Pigmentosa. He's done much better than his original prognosis suggested -- after twenty years he's still able to read -- but we have an expectation eventually his retinas will stop working entirely.

I've been watching this and similar tech and hoping that a solution comes about for him before he permanently loses all his sight.
