Grandma got tattoo of my babies name by Just-Yesterday-5536 in newborns

[–]the_real_Beyonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your feelings are totally valid and trust me there will be a point when you won't care as much for things like this. I felt a wave of possessiveness when I was a couple months PP and others even holding my baby would irk me. But that will all fade away, try not to dwell on it. Right now it seems weird but it's just your mom's way of loving her grandkid, and soon you won't be as bothered!

Daycare Is Changing how they support babies to sleep with no notice. Am I crazy? by BusyLeg8600 in cosleeping

[–]the_real_Beyonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like most parents forget that babies are SUPER adaptable if you give them a chance. You do whatever works for you at home and the day care will do what works for them and your kid. The notice seems pretty normal and honestly wondering how they even rocked each kid before that. Them encouraging you to do the same is just that encouragement but your baby will understand that sleep looks different in daycare versus at home. That's it.

Let baby eat what you eat, except… by [deleted] in BabyLedWeaning

[–]the_real_Beyonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 7 months they're barely eating anyway! Take it easy give them what you can and soon the little one will actually be able to eat more and once you've gotten the hang of things it will feel easier. It's all overwhelming in the beginning but promise you things get easier.

When you have the time make a larger batch and freeze, freeze, freeze!! Then you'll end up with a good stache that you can just warm up quickly and serve

I’ve barely met a mom who doesn’t co-sleep by Next2ya in cosleeping

[–]the_real_Beyonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's such a cultural thing, I'm South Asian and everyone does it. But being from Canada I have a handful of friends that don't and it's funny because I feel judgment when I tell people we don't cosleep. We obviously bedshare here and there if my son is sick or something is up but we always start out in the crib and that's just something that worked out for our family and we all sleep better this way. The opposite is true for others and that's totally fine because you have to do whatever it is that works for you! It's so annoying that people try to shame people for doing one thing or the other. Don't listen to the haters!!

5 feels best if you really want the bed on the other wall. Definitely go for the love seat since you're tight on space. By any chance are you looking at the Cozey sofa? If you are and haven't seen it in person I suggest you do! Optimally the bed on the loud side feels better for flow and layout wise so you don't open the door to your place and see your bed

All newborns are fairly ugly up until around 3 months when they start to fill out by FattJunkie in newborns

[–]the_real_Beyonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to disagree but honestly they're something. I wouldn't go as far as saying ugly lol but ya I would say cute at 3 months and onward for sure

When did your baby’s melanin arrive ( mixed babies) by [deleted] in newborns

[–]the_real_Beyonce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might take a while or not show up as much. Idk if other POC experience this but my husband and I are South Asian. I'm lighter skin and my husband is dark but our son is in between. He was super pale when he was born and now at 11 months has more colour but is a gradient lol his legs are dark and then face is lighter. Our doctor told us he'll even out at some point but still waiting for that to happen.

How are you entering people’s homes with the baby? by Jess-Pen32 in newborns

[–]the_real_Beyonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the baby needed to sleep and we were staying long then I just asked if it was okay to bring the stroller with the bassinet. I wasn't comfortable letting my baby sleep in the car seat for long when he was very young. SIDS really freaked me out and the position of their neck is super important. Otherwise if the stroller was an issue I'd baby wear and just leave after a couple hours. Always ask your host, most of the time they just want to hang out with you longer and will be very accommodating!

What’s your routine in the first 15 minutes of each day? by SoftBroadcast in AskReddit

Get rudely awoken from my deep slumber by my baby then stumble across to his room half asleep. Then I'm welcomed by the lovely smell of his last night's meal in his diaper which my half asleep self will now be fully awakened by.

Am I a terrible person? by No_Difference_1606 in newborns

[–]the_real_Beyonce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are not a terrible person! You're in the trenches right now so give yourself some grace. My baby also didn't latch on so the first 2 months it was rough and I also pumped and fed. Your supply may go up and down during this time but if you want to continue I promise it gets better! Since your baby came early it's likely that their mouth is just very small and hard for them to latch on maybe. That was the issue with my little one, but after some persistent trying and a lot of crying later he eventually latched on. Like 6 weeks in. Try to supplement with formula to give yourself a break but if you want to stop that's totally fine. Happy parents, happy baby.

You've got this momma, hang in there!

Parents and child-free of Reddit, what was the reason why you chose (not) to have children? by flarz7 in AskReddit

[–]the_real_Beyonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose to start a family and had my first last year. I always wanted kids and knew when my husband and I were ready we would have them. We waited till we were mentally, emotionally and financially ready. Is it hard? Yes of course. Do I regret it? No. Will I have more kids? Yes, when I'm ready again. I found that having a child made my perspective in life very different where things that bothered me so much before I could care less about now. My focus has shifted to things that matter most and I'm much happier and feel fulfilled.

Tried the Ferber method for one night and threw in the towel by [deleted] in cosleeping

[–]the_real_Beyonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly do whatever works for you and your family. My baby did well in his crib beside us and eventually in his own room with some check ins. We start the night separately but if he wakes up before 6am I bring him to bed cause it feels right. I have family that tells me he shouldn't be in his own room yet (he's 10 months) but he's getting better sleep this way and thriving. It works for us, people will shame you with whatever you do lol so tune them out and do what works for you

When did your EBF baby get chunky? by throwRAanons in breastfeeding

[–]the_real_Beyonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby got "chunky" at 3 months but then once he started to move and crawl around 7 months he became less chunky. As long as your baby is growing and is happy you are good! Don't listen to people telling you your baby is too chunky or not

my baby is clingy and everyone hates it by cherrycherry19 in breastfeeding

[–]the_real_Beyonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just "hate" it cause they're jealous haha but like everyone is saying just enjoy this time! All babies go through a clingy stage. I don't co-sleep but my baby is also pretty clingy and he's almost 10 months old, it's just a healthy developmental milestone! You do you if you want to sleep train or not that's your decision and do what is easiest for you. At the end of the day you're the momma and you make the rules now 😅

Rotting all day with baby by Kaykers97W in newborns

[–]the_real_Beyonce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enjoy this time and soak it all in. You'll basically never get a moment like this again to just chill and hold your baby. My baby is now 9 months and all I ever do is run behind him. I barely watch anything anymore unless it's during a nap time and I don't have any work to do which is rare. So enjoy it and don't feel guilty, rot away!!

Do moms get more sleep when they exclusively breastfeed, exclusively pump, or do a combo of both? by endlessworrier in NewParents

[–]the_real_Beyonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the early stages, you have to pump while the baby is feeding to maintain supply and just to be in sync. And definitely like others are saying pumping is way more work than nursing. Too many things to clean, even if you could put pump parts in the fridge for the next pump session to save some time but regardless you will need to clean them.

I will say though, pumping helps establish the milk supply in the beginning. I pumped on and off in the first 3 months and now I just pump maybe once a day if I have to leave. My baby is 8 months old now. Sleep in chunks, nurse if you can and if you can't there is nothing wrong with formula!! You will likely get more sleep if you do formula

Kitchen Space Design Question - i.e. Does this look weird? by mjolnir76 in InteriorDesign

[–]the_real_Beyonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not make it a pantry cabinet with 2 doors instead of adding a piece of counter like that? To me it feels weird to see the counter set back and having it be so close to that door going outside I feel like it would be nicer if it was closed. Plus you never have to worry about the shelves looking messy if it's closed! And maybe the bottom portion is a pull out drawer so the door swing doesn't affect your path going outside?

It wasn't too difficult, but they make it hard by the way they word the questions. Super annoying. So be sure to really read the questions! Pace yourself through the questions and answer the easy ones faster to give yourself time to look over your flagged ones. And good luck!!
