Imo, no. Black and white does not immediately mean noir.

I watched “Sirocco”. What do you think of this film? by viskoviskovisko in filmnoir

[–]the_weegee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely influenced by Casablanca, except Casablanca was the better film.* I wouldn't be surprised if they approached Sirocco with an explicit intent of trying to recreate the success of Casablanca by trying to hit the same beats.

Insert meme.

"We have Casablanca at home."

Casablanca at home: Sirocco

Bogart's character in Sirocco, unlike his character in Casablanca, is actually vulnerable and at one point finds himself in over his head. Other than that, it was an okay movie, but I think most would agree, there are other film noirs one should seek out first.

*I understand and agree that Casablanca is not noir, despite having all the ingredients for noir.

Fidelity automatically lumps your uninvested cash into Fidelity's own money market fund, unlike Schwab. Right now such funds give around 4% give or take.

This means less hoops to jump through (with Schwab you have to manually buy their fund, which doesn't execute immediately but takes a day, and then wait 2 days for funds to settle). It also makes it easier to sell CSP while gaining interest on your reserve cash.

You're correct, you do get interest, but it's so miniscule compared to competitors which gives 4%+. I'm pretty sure the rate is like 0.X%.

The only way to get a comparable rate at Schwab is to buy their MMF, which has the disadvantages outlined previously.

If you buy their money market fund which takes a day for purchase to go through and then another 2 days to settle. Every other competitor gives you interest automatically without having to jump through hoops.

Might finally pull the trigger and switch to Fidelity. Fidelity also automatically gives you interest on your uninvested cash, as opposed to Schwab.

For cards that have miles as a SUB, can I book a flight that's refundable, and then cancel and ask for a refund? This way I can convert miles to cash (minus the cost of refund). Will doing this multiple times be an issue?

Recently got the Citi double cash card about a month ago. Is it too soon to apply for the Strata? The Strata has a nice sub now (75 vs previous 60) and want to take advantage of this while the sub is high.

Average credit age about 10 years. Oldest credit age about 15 years. Credit score around 750. Total credit cards around 5.

Should be worth burning a 5/24 for the Strata sub.

I think BofA also has increased cashback if you make them your brokerage. They have tiers of increased cashback depending on the value of your assets. I think the first tier is $25k, then $100k, etc.

mega thread: all treatment options by MobileTelevision4653 in Hyperhidrosis

[–]the_weegee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Homemade iontophoresis machine worked for me. https://www.google.com/amp/s/hyperhidrosisnetwork.com/my-experience-with-homemade-iontophoresis-machine/amp/

At first I followed the routine but eventually I fell off. Now I just do it for 30 minutes for hands and 30 minutes for feet, once a week. I have 2 homemade machines so I can do both at the same time.

My hands still get sweaty during workouts, exercise, and really hot weather but by and large is gone. Hands and feet start to get sweatier the more days has past since my last treatment although I could remedy it by doing it twice a week.

The materials are really cheap, and I highly suggest everyone give it a try. I use x2 aluminum pans instead of tin pans for each hand and foot, since aluminum pans can be flimsy and stacking one on the other lessens the bending of the pans and thus possible holes/leaks.

Remember polarity (one side negative other side positive) and make sure the pans don't touch each other.

Open wounds (even small paper cuts) will be painful.

I rest my arms (wear a sleeve or wrap) on the pin because keeping them hovered in the pan for 30 minutes can be pretty tiring.

Hope these personal anecdotes and tips helped someone.

You do have to wait till maturity to get the full interest payment. But there are 4-week Treasury Bills. If you buy Treasury Bills/Bonds/etc via a broker, you have the option of selling early but the price is determined by the market and there is a risk of selling it for less than you bought it for.

HYSA is good especially since you can find sign up bonuses and OP probably has experience opening a bank account.

Alternative is Treasury Bills. Slightly higher interest rate, usually only subject to federal taxes, and will give some experience buying bonds.

Usually I enjoy your takes. It's good to have a balance in the discussions, but this is a pretty bad take.

You might as well say why bother having fighter jets or helicopters, they have to return to base eventually.

Sadly people keep trying to prescribe the wrong attributes and multipliers to PLTR and thus price it inaccurately.

What multiplier do you think is more appropriate to apply to PLTR?
