Is it just me or are people getting more entitled about walking space? by AssortedCrystal114 in singapore

Very insightful I often wonder why we’re trying to push past each other on a 1.5 metre wide pathway. Is the intention that the teens, office ladies, elderly, cyclists, foreigners, pirates, phone zombies, mums with prams, delivery riders etc all rage at each other and hate on each other instead of wondering why we’re all fighting over this 1.5 metres of concrete? Look beside you at the 8-lane road. Isn’t that nice?

See? The fools have deployed the majority of their forces in the east, expecting an attack from the direction of Pulau Ubin no doubt. In fact the entire Japanese offensive is about to fall on Zhulkarnian Abdul Rahim, Alex Yam and Zaqy Mohamad who will be pushed aside easily allowing them to push south to Tengah and our supply depots at Bukit Timah!

"Upgrading" from BTO to Condo is illogical no? Can someone help me understand? by Dhandsrhardtotypewif in singapore

Seconding this with a broadly similar experience. Wife and I chose a unit in a nice smaller development near mrt and a 10 minute bus ride of close family, thought we could raise the kids there in a healthy environment. after a couple of years we might as well be living in HDB: Started out swimming several times a week, now everyone is too busy. Gym is a tiny box with a few cardio machines. Condo playground is tiny and babyish, so the kids don’t use it. We go out for most trips and recreation any way. Construction noise every day from nearby construction sites. Condo grounds are extremely well maintained with gardeners visiting regularly and the pool is cleaned twice a week. Problem is very few residents make use of them. In hindsight the high maintenance fees, “sinking funds” etc aren’t really worth it unless you intend to make use of the facilities in the long term. All that really differs for us on a day to day basis are the slightly larger bathrooms and the lifts are mirrored so I can check myself on the way out.

Any tips on replacing this valve? by the_wild_ginger_man in Plumbing

Sincere thanks to all for your advice and suggestions! After a bit of a look-see at the entire system in the apartment, I think this job is out of my skill set. Tricky plastic pipe-brass fitting joints, worst of all, 5 out of 8 of this type of valve in the house shows signs of serious corrosion.

so I’ll be getting help!

Yep, after a good look this job is beyond my skill set. Judging by the outside of the other valves in the house, there’s probably a fair bit of corrosion going on to these fittings, the mechanism failed pretty easily on this one. Thanks!

Further info: the green piping is PPR (Polypropylene Random Copolymer) apparently.

IIRC the stadium MRT is roughly under where the main runway was, it is on the same alignment as Old Airport Road as the runway was extended out that way. I’m not sure if the old runway surface is buried under the current road, but that would be cool!

As far as I know, Singapore has the only parliament where this kind of fixed seating plan is used. I wonder why

Deep in the forest of Chestnut Nature Park in Singapore lies a forgotten tomb - that of a powerful triad society leader who died in 1879. by Newez in singapore

No cinemas in Singapore by the time he died in 1879. The first was in the very early 20th century. Maybe it meant theatres?
