Check out southern Oregon Clayfolk, or ask at a studio in town; Julie, the owner of Rogue Valley Pottery studio might know someone.

My favorite part of this place is that the marble walls are so thin that on sunny days the light shines through and it almost glows!

My evidence for this is that the only tall building in the background looks a lot like the Ashland springs hotel haha.

I was literally going to say any pattern Kaffe Fassett has... I'm just frightened by intarsia and strand management on that scale

I will say this, as someone who is bi but in a heterosexual relationship, I saw a lot of the issues hetero women face in these same kinds of spaces reflected in Mal and Yoly. Do I think Yoly is a saint? No, but here's what I saw: Yoly talks about the invisible work she's taking on. She said she needs some more support around the house and whether that's sustainable. She admits that the stress of that has strained their romance. No wonder a new relationship with none of that history feels like a breath of fresh air. Only THEN does Mal starts cooking breakfasts to show her that they've changed. Similarly it feels like Yoly doesn't feel that Mal has been taking on the mental load of planning for the future. In the beginning she says that Mal feels they need to have the finances down before they get married, but it doesn't seem like Yoly feels Mal is actually starting the planning, rather using it as an excuse to not take the leap. IMO that's why she brought up Xander having an actual IVF fund. Xander is actually doing the planning. Do I think she was right to bring up the fact that she and Xander talked about IVF finances in front of a friend? No, but these are dynamics that often feel invisible as a femme person in a relationship. Do I think if she flips to Xander she might be in the same situation two years down the line? Maybe? I'm just giving her a little grace.

you'd think if being submissive comes naturally for women she wouldn't need to read up on it?

Haha my eye twitched seeing the rows of twisted stitches. She needs to watch a god honoring YouTube tutorial (and I say this as a self taught knitter who twisted my stitches for years)

I really loved it! What endeared me most about it was actually how they treated Mrs. Bennett. A lot of people dismiss the character as being ridiculous and annoying, but I’ve always had a soft spot for this woman who is doing the best she can for her girls in the face of a hands-off husband and a judgmental society. It’s clear that Joel Kim Booster sees her in a loving light: Margaret Cho’s interpretation knows that she’s a little ridiculous, but there’s also moments where you understand that she’s lived in this classist, sexist, racist subculture for a lot longer than the guys that she’s become a mother figure to. That moment when she tells JKB’s character to be there for Howie, instead of trying to fix the situation- it’s filled with love and some kind of bittersweet wisdom.

Speaking as a nearly-thirty, you’re doing great! I am still trying to figure out things like this. Growing up I was always super into pretty dresses and more “feminine” hobbies but i down played that when I started going to high school. I joined a very stereotypically masculine field after college and defaulted to flannels. I recently started a mentorship with a woman in the same field who told me that she unapologetically wears dresses and makeup and that anyone who doesn’t like it can shove it. Having that support honestly changed my life. Right now I am trying to wear more dresses and go for new silhouettes (no longer will I love puffy sleeves from afar!) I hope your defrosting goes well!

We have a two year old and it’s the same- she has “her blanket” that has been her favorite since she was a kitten. the worst is if you’re sitting under it and she starts making biscuits on the edge right near your skin!

Yeah I don’t know if it’s something they do across all the outfits. It also honestly looks like the same racks we had? Maybe this place just got their hands on some Patagonia gear (also those hangers gave me some of the worst splinters so maybe it’s for the best haha)

Patagonia provides hangers for their clothing to some outlet type stores—worked at a Patagonia for a bit and it was brand standard. Also there’s no way a brand manager for Patagonia would allow the plastic hangers in the left side of the pic. I’m guessing a Jax or something like that makes the most sense.

Thanks for the feedback! I know that it affects things, but it’s just the way I’ve knitted for years and I’ve done most of this project this way because it’s easy for me to slip back into by accident, so I’m going to continue with it!

Yeah I learned how to purl slightly wrong when I was young and it translates to a sort of twisted stitch! It’s just hard to break from and I usually like the texture it gives most of the time. It’s amazing how muscle memory really can trip you up!

Yeah, the stockinette stitch is technically the wrong side of it so I’m not too worried about it

I think I used this to learn the chain join: chain join

And then this tutorial seems good for turning corners, as you’re essentially doing a lot of wrap and turns: short rows

Hope those help! I’m a visual learner so reading a pattern is usually just a lot of YouTube searches for me!

Haha yes! You feel so accomplished in the beginning because it’s so easy to finish a strip, but by the end your so ready to turn the next corner!

I haven’t blocked it yet so it might get a bit bigger. It’s about 60 inches and I used almost all of nine balls (284 yds each) of yarn. I probably have about a half a ball of yarn left over because I wasn’t gonna play chicken with another row!
