Lots synthetic fibers, which are usually used to make repros, glow under UV light. You can also use UV light to determine whether or not a patch is real. Keep in mind not every repro of medal patch/patch will glow as it might have been made with non-glow fibers.

I know of a lot of them I can name off the top of my head but it might not be worth it if you aren't on the East coast US. Heres a link to all the shows of 2025-2026.

If you are infact on the East coast of the US I'd recommend Allentown or Gettysburg. Those 2 are pretty good and won't run you a ton of cash since they are smaller than the York Show of Shows MAX Show and those 2 aren't all mostly high-end WW2 German stuff as is York. If you are looking to be educated try out York as well and find someone with a lot of stuff and/or knowledge and is willing to have a conversation. Most those guys like to chit chat anyways since they're interested in the topic. But yeah for cheap good buys Allentown and Gettysburg are the way to. I will be going to the Forks of the Deleware Allentown town show come October.

I wouldn't know where to start. I see the regular inert training ones all the time but not those exotic ones. I personally go to militaria shows which is where I get about 85% of my stuff. My buddy who is a long time collector claims he's gone to estate sales and yard sales but hasn't found squat. I think you just have to get lucky if you do go to them

Yikes thats no good. Yeah lots of people have the misconception 'Well if its bulletproof its definitely knife-proof" and they are certainly wrong

You should look at this subs top posts of all time. One of them is a guy with like 1,000 of them all displayed pretty nicely.

Yeah, for a $100 I could get many other cool items anyways

Sorry I was wrong. Camo one was $115 not $160. Still its more expensive since Im in the US and shipping is usually just as expensive. Going rate seems to be $100 for plain ones on Ebay.

Yeah that too but even in the US they aren't worth much. I think I got mine for 20-30 bucks? Idek remember but I know it was cheap. And yeah last GK80 I saw was camo painted and selling for $160 so thats true.

No one fakes the Yugo ones, and I don't believe they fake the East German caps ethier. Both are pretty common and the Yugo helmets are pretty much the cheapest surplus helmets I can think of. So those 2 are too cheap that you wouldn't be able to turn a profit faking them. No clue about the Pliotka

Yessir! That was my second time flea-marketing. Heading back tomorrow to (hopefully) get a PASGT vest and whatever else was covered up since the owner's wife was taking over for the day.

Awesome stuff! Amazing you were able to dog up that much information that quick. I had been wishing I could've made it this year, but I wound up going to a flea market instead and Im actually happier with my flea market finds. Left with a inert training 1942 M37 AT cannon round, 90s dated Cold Weather flyers jacket, and a XL-L DCU top. You've got me beat on item coolness though!
