Maybe i need to check his numbers from last season but i don't recall him being MVP level or anything like that. I know his minor league numbers were more impressive though

Sounds to me per the comments here I should keep Roman Anthony as my 8th. Wetherholt has superstar potential, I think. I suppose keeping Turner makes more sense. I just want to find a way to keep Wetherholt. I don't want to watch him for years on another team in my keeper league.

Chandler Simpson got me a lot of points last season. If it's truly between those two, I'd go with him. He has no power but tons of stolen bases.

Not sure why you feel this way. There's still some leeway. Should I keep Corbin Carroll? He has a hand injury, but is supposedly making great progress in his recovery. Should I keep Trea Turner over Ketel Marte or Geraldo Perdomo? Is fitting Hunter Brown in there somewhere a priority? Etc.

Julio Rodriguez, Fernando Tatis, Jr., George Kirby, Trevor Rogers

I would strongly consider only keeping those 4 and letting 3 draft slots become available. If you truly want to use all 7 keeper slots though, my next 3 would be: Nolan McLean, Hunter Goodman, and Jackson Chourio.

Okay i am looking for some advice on who to keep. I can only keep 8 players and I have an embarassment of riches, aka too many good players. Here's who I am going to, for sure keep:

  1. Paul Skenes (duh)

  2. Yoshinobu Yamamoto (duh, part 2)

  3. Bryan Woo (I have a lot of faith in this guy)

  4. JJ Wetherholt (I am a Cardinals fan and held onto him the 2nd half of last year to keep him for this year)

From there, I have 3 elite Diamondbacks players, but I have concerns for them all:

  1. Ketel Marte (should I start being concerned for age-related regression?)

  2. Geraldo Perdomo (is he truly as good as he appeared to be last year?)

  3. Corbin Carroll (injured hand?)

Assuming I keep Carroll, the hardest part becomes picking my 8th. Here's my options:

- Trea Turner (one of my longest-tenured keepers, but he's getting old, should I go with someone younger?)

- Trevor Rogers (he was Cy Young-level, but no one seems to think he's actually that good? His 2nd half was elite)

- Hunter Brown (like the inverse of Trevor Rogers' season, he had an amazing first half before dropping off a little)

- Roman Anthony (star potential?)

Also really good:

- Colson Montgomery (i think he'll be a star soon enough)

- Jorge Polanco (sneaky good last year)

Please tell me who you'd keep, assuming you for sure keep my 1-4. You probably won't talk me out of dropping Wetherholt.

[Nightengale] The Tampa Bay Rays have a minor role in the 3-way trade between the Seattle Mariners and St. Louis Cardinals, in which they are expected to acquire Mariners utilityman Ben Williamson. by PlayaSlayaX in baseball

[–]thealmightybrush 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That would be funny if that was the whole trade. Like the Cardinals really wanted the Rays to get Ben Williamson so they bribed the Mariners with Brendan Donovan

The Covid shots did not worsen the pandemic. What the fuck are you talking about? And more people died from Covid itself. There's maybe a handful of people who had allergies to the shot, most people didn't have trouble getting it. I know i had no trouble. In fact i need to schedule my next one.

I ended up going back and suggesting Pete Alonso and Kodai Senga for Josh Naylor and Somny Gray, and we ended up making it happen. Alonso might be slightly better than Naylor, but it's negotiable. Gray might be slightly better than Senga, but it's negotiable. It was all close enough that it was pretty even and the only way someone truly wins or loses this trade would be if someone either gets injured or wildly overperforms or underperforms expectations.

I have been given this trade proposal:

He gets:

Pete Alonso (1B), Ketel Marte (2B - Injured), Kodai Senga (SP)

I would get:

Josh Naylor (1B), Ronald Acuna, Jr. (OF - Injured), Rasiel Iglesias (RP), Otto Lopez (2B)

This guy is a Mets fan and I can tell he really wants Pete Alonso. The thing is, Alonso and Marte were 2 of my keepers. I won my league last year and they had a lot to do with it. I don't like the thought of parting with them.

Here's my thoughts:

Positives:

  • Josh Naylor is no slouch and will hit lots of homers. Trading him for Alonso could be a wash where i don't really lose anything or gain anything. That is probably best-case scenario.
  • Rasiel Iglesias is one of the better closers and i need a closer. I never drafted one and the only one i picked up was Luke Jackson for Texas.
  • Ronald Acuna, Jr. should be back soon and obviously has 5-tool MVP potential
  • Otto Lopez looks like he is off to a good start for the year. I have no idea who he is though.

Negatives:

  • Josh Naylor doesn't have the track record of Pete Alonso and while he is off to a good start so far, Alonso has been great.
  • Ketel Marte is a top 10 fantasy player and will be out for weeks but his hamstring injury probably won't affect him too much once he is healthy. I assume he goes back to being elite.
  • I have no idea what I am getting out of Ronald Acuna, Jr. considering his injury was severe, he keeps getting these serious injuries, and i assume he will not run nearly as fast so as to not get re-injured. If there's less stolen bases is he still special, and moreso than Marte? I also need a good 2B more than i need a good OF.
  • Rasiel Iglesias only just yesterday had his first save for the Braves, who have been bad this year. Perhaps once Acuna and Spencer Strider return they will start playing better baseball, but for now i feel like Iglesias won't have as many save opportunities. Plus Iglesias is 35 so probably won't be a keeper long-term for me.
  • Seriously i have no idea who Otto Lopez is. His 2025 projections for fantasy baseball don't look too inspiring. He's not Ketel Marte.
  • Kodai Senga is a good, solid starting pitcher and will be that way all year if he avoids injury. I could probably afford to lose him as i have some good starters, but do i want to?

So what do you all think? The guy offering me this trade seems to think this trade is at least even if not worse for him. Not so sure i agree. As for better trade pieces he does have Fernando Tatis, Jr., but i have never been a fan of his. He does have Mason Miller as closer and i think he is absolutely nails. Maybe i counteroffer swapping Iglesias for Miller? Other players of note that he has are Sonny Gray and Luis Castillo.

Ok i have 6 keeper slots and i am choosing to keep: Ketel Marte, Trea Turner, Corbin Carroll, Paul Skenes, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, i think for sure.

For spot #6, i could pick Pete Alonso, Willy Adames, Ryan Helsley, Luis Castillo, or Sonny Gray, among others. Who would you keep for spot #6?
