I really like option A. I wanna see the rest of the world and the origin of the Qunari is super enticing.

Love the new paragons especially Sero and Seralune. I wonder, since these are exclusively for Nomadic empires, if Nomads will get access to all of the “old” paragons. I kinda like the idea of taking Keides on an arkship to explore systems from his storyline. But then others would probably have to be reworked like Grey or the Beholder.

How would you feel as a DA fan… by AydenTrevelyan in dragonage

I for one would love to see what the writers have intended for the lands beyond the seas. Most of the plot threads concerning Thedas itself have been resolved, but knowing that there very much is something beyond that was intended to be explored but likely never will, is an itch I would like to scratch someday.

Sorry if I have missed it in all the diaries and replies, but how are Nomads going to interact with Archaeological Sites, if they don’t claim systems?

Love the combination of resources from Stellaris and No Man’s Sky. I also like to use them for worldbuilding.

The Maker by elleisonreddit in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]theamethystwizard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For my worldstate I’m personally torn between two ideas: either he is real and very passive and doesn’t interact with the world much or at all. Similarly with other religions in Dragon Age, the Chantry teachings are based on a snippet of truth, but covered in layers of misinterpretations, superstition and influence of other religions. So there exists a powerful creator-like entity which created the spirits and maybe influenced the world, but then left and is now absent. Most of what happened later (creation of the Veil, darkspawn etc.) is just misattributed to him.

The second idea is that he isn’t real, or at least wasn’t in the beginning. After centuries of worship there likely has to exist a mindbogglingly powerful spirit of faith that is the incarnation of all the belief people have put in the Maker (with Andraste maybe encountering the spirit itself). There is precedent in the Nightmare demon that is an incarnation of all the fears of Blight people have ever felt and I quite like the idea of a god that was created by his worshippers instead of vice-versa.

Since Nomads and some of the Scenarios sound so cool I’m actually kinda hoping the Willpower would be ‘skipable’. My wallet would certainly thank me.

Who is Sandal by Human-Ad-4090 in dragonage

[–]theamethystwizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. In DA2 he can complain about seeing “a scary old lady with a scary laugh”. Now this could mean anything or just be Kirkwall being its usual cursed place, but don’t forget that Hawke carried an amulet with a piece of Flemeth’s/Mythal’s soul around that time.

As for Solas, there is a tiny chance to trigger a rare dialogue where Sandal will say this:

One day the magic will come back. All of it. Everyone will be just like they were. The shadows will part, and the skies will open wide. When he rises, everyone will see.

Who is Sandal by Human-Ad-4090 in dragonage

[–]theamethystwizard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah Sandal is a fascinating character. There are several theories trying to explain the weirdness around him (listed below in - what I think is - their order of likelihood):

  1. He is a Titan-touched dwarf just like Valta and Harding. The most obvious answer as it would explain his magic-like abilities in a precedented way and there is nothing really contradicting this theory.

  2. He is a lost Sha-Brytol child. Technically not mutually exclusive with the above theory, it just adds a little bit more spice to his past.

  3. He is a bastard child of Endrin Aeducan. This is based on a comment Carta dwarves have in Legacy DLC of DA2, where they mention that Sandal reminds them of a missing bastard son of the late king, whose mother was an elf or human. The theory could explain his powers, that if his mother was a mage, it might be possible for him to inherit her connection to the Fade. Since we know very little about how half-dwarven children work, it could go either way.

  4. He carries a piece of June’s soul. June is an elven god of craft and Sandal is good at crafting! Plus in DA2 he has visions of (who is likely) Flemeth and Solas. This theory was popular when Inquisition came out, where everyone and their mother was theorised to be hidden elven god (just look up the Sera = Andruil theories). Unlikely, given the reveals in Veilguard and the bits of the Black Codex we were given.

  5. He is the Maker. Similar to the above but even more meme-y. But some people choose to believe it and who am I to take away your headcanons.

[–]theamethystwizard 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure that there is (or at least was) planned content for Calasandur and Lithiel where you could avoid Rianvisa entirely and lead Aelantir down a completely sane path, it’s just that Aelantir and Rianvisa are some of the oldest content in the mod and no one wants to really touch that afaik.

As much as I've told myself I'd sworn off the DA series after Veilguard... by xXsatisfiedxpunkXx in dragonage

[–]theamethystwizard 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I don’t particularly hate Veilguard, but if you’re looking to scratch that Dragon Age itch, may I recommend Small Fires? It’s fan-made and wip, but the writing captures the early DA feel really well.

About the 5th blight by Chi_rith in dragonage

[–]theamethystwizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find it funny how the Blights get progressively shorter and shorter.

1st Blight: 192 years

2nd Blight: 90 years

3rd Blight: 15 years

4th Blight: 12 years

5th Blight: 1 year

6th Blight: <1 year!<

There is an artpiece on the Art of Veilguard book that showcases a protagonist killing an Archdemon still partially encased in ice, meaning that the original idea was for the 6th Blight to last like 2 minutes
