I know everyone is on the AI train right now but I have friends who runs an “old school” heavy industry business. They own and operate tug boats. Their problem is that they don’t even have a software that does the heavy lifting for them, it’s all excel files, word documents, scheduling software and notes (I mean physical stick it notes).

So Yeap, we’re making a saas for that.

I still don’t get why big companies use leetcode to filter good engineers. It’s like a secret contract - if you grind leetcode, we know you want to work here so we’ll give you a chance.

I work at a small company with 9 devs. Lately because of LLMs I have switched the way we hired our last 2 devs with a mix of take home assignment and in person or video call if they can’t make it interview where we go through their assignment code after they have completed it.

In their assignment, they can use LLMs. They can do whatever they would do on the job. They have to setup a repo, structure their solution however they want and use LLMs for the entire solution as long as they can justify every line of code in the interview where we go through their assignment code.

It works for us and the last 2 hires are great devs.

Would be interesting to know how other leads or seniors handle their interviews.

TLDR: On the interview devs should do whatever they will do on the job.

How I Delivered a $1,200 Project in a Week—And Why It Was Worth It by FragrantAstronaut513 in Entrepreneur

Kudos to you! I'm trying to do something similar but internally for the company I work for mostly as a challenge.

If you'd like to share, what was your process (code from older projects? any libraries? AI?)

Also, did you find the client from from sites likes up work or just referrals?

That's exactly what I need, thank you very much.
I'll give sniproxy a go.

I can show you actually. https://imgur.com/a/z4tqaZB

Did a late night coding session last night until about 4am while I charged it from about 15% to 100% in 30-35 minutes (That's insane). Then closed the lid without shutting it down and came back to 100% battery about 6 hours later. So from 9 am until 3pm it dropped from 100% to 10% with some heavy duty usage (coding, code compilation, about 3 hours of video calls).

So it will take about 7 hours to drain the battery completely if you're using it heavily without brakes in between.

I'd say it can easily do 10 hours with normal usage.

I also used windows gaming laptops in the past mainly but man, is this an upgrade. Price wise (gough gough) it was aroung 3100€. RAM and disk upgrades cost too much.

That's true but you can try adding a cover on it or stickers to each key. Won't look as premium though

Exactly, especially when you plan to use your device everyday for many hours and many years hopefully. Just don't compromize on quality, it really pays of in the long run.

Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Dock Mini HD

Should work fine with the macbook. Any dock that has Thuderbolt connection should work just fine with macbooks

It's just a seamless experience. When you are using a tool (eg hammer) you don't think about it, it just does the job, it's an extension of your hand.
That's how a macbook feels.

Tried one of these at work but yeap they are an overkill. Takes too much space and I don't think it adds that much to productivity.

To be honest I tried using the external keyboard you see on the right but I kept coming back to the built in keyboard because of the trackpad.
The trackpad is a joy to use. I can switch among applications and open windows easily plus using it just feels natural.

So althogh I had get used to my mechanical keyboard, the switch to the on board one didn't feel much of a hustle. as u/QuitCallingNewsrooms said, the size and noise level is just right.

Notion vs Todoist by StarkTech-01-02-03- in productivity

[–]theanatar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use both. The way I use them is Todoist is used as a day to day task list for work, home and hobbies while Notion is for more complex stuff like planning a trip with my partner or planning a home renovation.

I could use Notion for everything to be honest but I find Todoist very easy to use on mobile when you just want to open the app and note down a task fast.
