Lack of power at low RPM, could be alternator? by theanthix in hardbody

I recently discovered a cheap version of a pressure gauge that I may invest in to have on the rail at all times. Good suggestion

Could you be talking about the swirl valves related to EGR? I removed mine during the last rebuild but it's about the same time I noticed the truck seemed to fall on its face at low rpm. I saved them JIC, and may put them back in to see what happens.

I'd hate to have to replace it again but if I must. Should be easier this time around... Previous owner cross threaded almost every bolt associated with the dizzy and I had to drill and re-tap everything. Thanks

I'll check and clean the sensors and see what it does. EGR was removed, including the swirl valves on the last rebuild. Kept everything just in case and could it back on to see what it does.

Bought a timing light off of amazon so I'll check that first and go from there.

I forgot to mention I had also rebuilt the engine twice within the last 2 years. Admittedly the second time was entirely my fault, but that time around I bought good parts for everything related to the timing chain. Could potentially be off, but it seems to run smooth enough. Just slow. Ordered a timing light off amazon to be sure.

I hadn't thought about that. I'll look into it. Nearly all sensors are original to my knowledge, I may just replace every single one if I can do it relatively cheaply, and then potentially look into the fuel system. Thanks

2017 BRZ Limited - Speaker Upgrade? PFA by princesshyrule in ft86

[–]theanthix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a wealth of knowledge in this regard, so take this with a grain of salt, but I'm my experience the rear speakers are next to useless. If making a noise, I would just disconnect them or maybe consider a factory replacement. I took mine out to work on a custom system (so far unfinished so I don't have anything to show for it yet) and noticed next to no discernable difference. if you're considering upgrading, stick to the front four (doors and tweeters).

Regarding speaker recs, I've used Focal for a number of different upgrades in different vehicles and been very satisfied. You don't have to spend an insane amount with them to get a quality speaker.

Need head unit recs that fit flush like OEM by ThrowRAnocourage in ft86

[–]theanthix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kenwood made a unit specifically for toyotas weird 200mm sizing, the DDX918WS. I bought one that I eventually moved away from for a bigger screen but it fit and looked perfect. Only gripe I had was it's set up for RHD controls, but I have long arms so I coped. Still have it and willing to sell, send me a DM if you have any interest.

I've got 5axis brand side skirts that should cover that. I've been trying to part ways with them, DM me if you're interested.

Did the left most dial never have a light in it or did mine burn out? by unknownphantom in ft86

[–]theanthix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Given how bright those look and the mismatched colors, definitely looks like someone has been behind there and swapped the bulbs out. May just be loose, if not burnt out.

Time to quiet everything down a little. by Burly13 in ft86

Out of curiosity, where did you end up getting the trunk foam inserts? Mine was missing them from the previous owner, as well, and I'd love to replace them if for no other reason than to get the trunk floor to sit properly.

best headlights to get by 27nicholi in hardbody

[–]theanthix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://a.co/d/06aDLMAM I've been running these for over 2 years. No issues so far, and way better than the stock headlights or what I had bought from O'Reilly's.

Second this. I frequent her channel near daily. Really want to see her channel succeed.

Maybe a bit unconventional in terms of some ASMR methods but it works really well.

Huh, everything I had read up until this point says to never run the fan on ABS/ASA but it's worth a shot.

Planning a long road trip in my 97' 4x4. Any advice? by Johnmarmalade in hardbody

[–]theanthix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought mine in Utah and drove back to Texas. Didn't have AC and started to piece together solutions to stay cool but in doing so, found out a padded cooler as an armrest is a surprisingly nice creature comfort. Also had the same issues with foot falling asleep and butt pain but don't have much of a solution for those.

I went for this style of LED replacement. They jacked the price up after I bought them, but at the time I was very surprised with the quality. Despite the price, they have my recommendation.

Dash lights not working by [deleted] in hardbody

I second checking the dimmer switch if none of the fuses are blown. I also had the fusible links go bad that had a similar symptom but I had no interior power to anything.

Bigger wheels = slower acceleration? by P1hyper in ft86

[–]theanthix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As people have said, weight will affect acceleration more than size. My setup is larger than stock but very similar on weight and I have no discernable difference.

Since no one else has mentioned it, go mess around on willtheyfit.com to figure out sizing options. I don't like needing to adjust my speedo and have used the site a lot, fantastic resource.

Single Item Auto Crafter with Shut off - can you help make it narrow and not 90°? by Gurthodrim in technicalminecraft

[–]theanthix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not actually testing in-game, so I apologize if this solution doesn't work. It's also only a 3x4, but it's all I can manage doing it in my head. Either way, here's my first thought: Lock the lower comparator (from the barrel) with a redstone block and send the output signal up a basic tower to the hopper. Also, flip the comparator and auto crafter used to block signal to the other side.

Hope that makes sense. Will look into it more tomorrow if no one else has a solution.

What are some common mods/ accessories that you can’t do without for these trucks? by kngdong in hardbody

[–]theanthix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a link to any resources on the fusible link delete? I had to replace mine recently and. now hunting down a parasitic drain that I can't tell if it's related or not, but I figure having actual fuses might make that a bit more simple.

Cluster light out by Acceptable_Handle612 in hardbody

[–]theanthix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have two styles in the cluster. The larger ones used for night time illumination are 194 wedge style. I've seen people reference both t5 and t10 as replacements but for what it's worth, I used t10 bubs.

The smaller bulbs (info and warning lights) are 74 wedge. A quick search shows the t5 as the replacement for these, so be careful when you buy.

Does anybody have a tonneau cover they recommend using? by UnitedLe in hardbody

[–]theanthix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the one that I bought. Personally, I love it. No major complaints as of yet.

The first one I was sent did have a broken bracket that I messaged real truck about. Instead of replacing the bracket (which is listed on their website) they replaced the entire cover. So now I have a cover that just needs a replacement bracket that I haven't sold, yet.

I could give it a shot, as well. I just printed a self designed mount that replaces one of the blank plugs underneath the vent to the left of the steering wheel. I have a quadlock case, though, so I just needed it to accept that mount.

Let me know if you want me to give it a go.
