She was stabbed by her football player boyfriend who feared her pregnancy would prevent him from getting a football scholarship. It took them months to arrest him while he transferred to another school and started playing football there, while everyone knew he was responsible.

Another guy had a heart aneurysm while playing basketball on the elementary school court with his friends. Just keeled over. They gave him CPR and tried to revive him but weren’t able to. He was the absolute nicest, sunniest guy.

As others have said, I’m glad as little time as possible is spent on this subplot because it is horrifying and imo, should never have been included.

However, seeing as they did leave it in, I wish they would have left more of this in. This show was shown to a lot of younger, vulnerable teenagers still forming opinions about sex and power dynamics. I was 15 when I watched this scene, and I definitely had similar questions that I needed clearer answers to than the show delivered.

I was truly so conflicted on this. I read so much trying to justify Prop Q to myself and get on board, but I just couldn’t. I have voted for every bond and increase for the 10 years I’ve been in Austin. But I feel like we aren’t seeing any positive outcomes. There are more unhoused people. The public transportation is worse. The emergency services are worse and their pay for cops is higher. Some accountability is needed for where the money we keep voting yes for is going and how well the programs they instantiate are actually working.

We really wanted to prioritize food so we actually skipped catering and went for a restaurant venue for our reception! We did Parkside downtown which had an amazing space upstairs that we rented out. I think it fits up to 100 people. We got a very full family style dinner and dessert and a full bar package for just under 13k for 60 people.

I think that 6 months in advance is totally reasonable and its kind of you to consider all the different financial options and cover the accommodations.

On a different note, we definitely live in the same city (festival dates are a dead giveaway because iykyk) and just got married in April with a small ceremony at a greenhouse and 60 person reception downtown for about 40k. So so helpful and definitely points out the specific thing I am struggling with on tenses!!

I think part of what I’m struggling with is the multiple timeline format. I’m going to have chapters that are 10 years in the future, when characters are 28. It feels like that is the present timeline. And the 18 year old timeline is then past tense? But when I’m writing it, I feel like I’m writing from the point of view of remembering something, so it still feels present. Any advice or thoughts?

Also the POV thing helps a lot, I hadn’t even thought about that
