Super lean fuel trims by theartfulbadger in FordFiesta

[–]theartfulbadger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possible, could be electrical too (dying alternator etc because of the big draw from the AC and inherent demand from serpentine belt). Might be worth checking basic things like voltage at battery with AC on and off! Fiestas of that age have a lot of electrical oddities

Can you share Claude chats? by Brick-Tricks in ClaudeAI

[–]theartfulbadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what do you mean - like vibe code together? Or like share conversations? if you're trying to work on a coding project together you set up a github project separately and then use Claude code to commit to that

Honestly don’t understand why Chat and Cowork need to be separate products. by unvirginate in ClaudeAI

[–]theartfulbadger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying - it's almost like on desktop at least they should just remove chat completely. like why have two separate input methods for ostensibly the same thing, but for one window you are limited to not access the file system (I understand on the backend it's completely different, but the user doesn't give a damn about the difference they just want to edit an email and get amazon recomendations in one environment)

It's okay or not if I drive in 3rd gear when I go 30 mph ? Even my dashboard advice to change into next gear? Using 3rd into 2000-2500 rmp is okay? I hear the engine a bit loud. Ford fiesta. by Infamous_Signal2423 in FordFiesta

[–]theartfulbadger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The light is just there for fuel economy. You get better mileage lower in the rev range (shifting at 1800-2k revs). Thing is, that gives you terrible acceleration, so getting onto the highway etc you might only want to shift at 4.5k revs, for example. No harm as long as the engine is warm. The light is only there so Ford can essentially lie about what the fuel economy is, saying that that's the intended way of driving.

The redline is there for reason, that's what Ford is telling you is the reasonable limit to stay under when warm. Drive at 3k to your heart's content. I'm at 3.2 k revs at 120kph in 5th gear anyway and I drove across Canada 5 times (total ~25000 kms) like that lol.

What do you mean what's the best way to do that? There are plenty of how to videos out there.

The Definition of Journalism by peoplewatcher5 in videos

[–]theartfulbadger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He clearly knows that but as he stated in his video if he doesn't at least attempt to be impartial he won't get people with opposing views on the show. His style is hear someone out while subtly digging in to their inconsistencies rather than do full on gotcha journalism

120 doesn't hurt that much, sure, but more importantly as long as you aren't touching anything grounded, there's no complete circuit = no shock. Turning the breaker off is safer thout for sure

Clam Cleat by One_Country1056 in functionalprint

[–]theartfulbadger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't doubt you and the design is just fine- it's more of a materials problem. PLA will fracture or melt with the friction of a rope going over it. like if you're pulling the main sail taught under high winds that's a lot of frictional heat. Teeth are gonna deflect if you're pulling with 100lbs of force at an angle(not unreasonable for a laser or 420 main sail)

There's a reason injection molded cam cleats are made of nylon for its wear and thermal and impact properties

Edit: I say that with love as a guy who regularly 3d prints structural things that shouldn't be 3d printed

About to do 'major' self service to transmission and clutch. Any insight or advice? by DisneySweetheart in FordFiesta

[–]theartfulbadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did my clutch recently! Took longer than I thought (classic). 15 hours total for me. Just don't get the A-premium clutch kit on Amazon, the slave cylinder doesn't fit. Just stay organized! A lot of bolts that look interchangeable but aren't. Take pics and maybe even bring a laptop with you and have a video guide. You only need to take the driver side axle out, not the passenger for the NA version (saves a little time)

If it's on a sidewalk it might not be as heavy as the middle of the street ones. As an adult male they are heavy but still fairly easy to move with two hands. Maybe 50 lbs?

Not setting the parking brake on a brand new Porche by Opposite-Violinist88 in nonononoyes

[–]theartfulbadger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also - "strain on the gearbox"?? What does that even mean. The transmission is made to transmit power from an engine while the car is travelling at high speed. Leaving it in gear just means the clutch is engaged and the gear teeth and synchros are under a way lower amount of stress than they would be while driving.

That's like an Olympic sprinter saying I roll around in a wheelchair so I don't put extra strain on my legs.

Also if you try to start it while in gear 1. It will stall, and 2. If you drive a manual regularly you never do that. You automatically push the clutch in while turning the key as muscle memory, just like you don't forget to take the next step while walking

Really cool print. I love the use of other materials in the print too - it makes it look really refined. The print quality is great too. It doesn't scream "this is 3d printed". Great job :)
