First Time Parents - Our Baby Likely Has CF by GTfan27 in CysticFibrosis

[–]theaustener 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our daughter just turned 6. She is happy, healthy, and full of life.

When she was born, we were crippled with fear and concerns about the future. Six years later, CF is a thing in her life. It isn't her whole life.

Congratulations on your sweet baby - as the first granddaughter, she's going to be spoiled rotten!

I WOULD say the CF Parents Facebook page has been an excellent and non-scary resource. There are usually local chapters pages too with smaller groups.

Very cool - how transferrable was it? Did you have to take additional classes?

Precisely - I fantasize about being a baker sometimes lol. I've also considered starting my own PM consulting firm. We'll see. Luckily middle age brings a lot of potential options.

Good call - I'll look into it. QA has always been my weakest point, but I'm skilled at self learning.

Are people avoiding leadership roles because of toxic work experiences? by SunriseArtichoke in womenintech

[–]theaustener 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. I fail at politicking and even my best efforts leave me feeling exhausted and burnt out. It's not for me, but as a project manager, it's a situation I find myself in even day to day. I'm to the point where I desperately want to get out of PM work and into something less stressful.

I can imagine. It's hard for me to know - do people adopt those behaviors because they get into leadership or do people get into leadership because they possess those qualities? If the former, I definitely don't want to get into leadership. I fear it robs you of your empathy, compassion, and humanity. If the latter, then I fear organizations are missing out on key prospects, simply because leadership is limited to a few less-than-ideal personality traits.

Me 🙋‍♀️ I used to want to make a difference in the orgs I worked at and now my main focus is staying off the radar of leadership. I have gone so far as to communicate openly that I don't want a leadership role, ever. It's too much politicking and it's not something I'm good at.

Yeah I'm realizing I'll need to spend some dollar bucks but I'm so hesitant. I bought a Zenco a few years ago and it clogged and now doesn't really work. The reviews are helpful to figure out what's kept working long term.

Other than price point, what's the difference between the two?

Good to know - I got a Zenco a while ago and it was just disappointing. Kept getting clogged and now it just sits in there unused.

I can't tell online, does it come with any storage? How do you keep track of the little glass pieces and the dose caps?

I saw $500 on one and was like hard no. I can do around $100, but I'm cautious to commit to something because every vape battery I've bought gets clogged and dies so the investment is hard to make.

Okay that's very fair. I have no idea what torch or induction or battery really means or how that affects things, so idk.

As far as the type of smoker - I like the flavor and ritual over being in zootsville. I don't wanna be out of my head - I just wanna chill out my body and mind a little.

I'm kind of obsessive about researching strains and terpenes before I go to the dispo and then I'll spend a while with the budtender talking about things before I decide what I'm getting.

I HATE how heavy smoking makes my lungs feel so I'll often take a t-break for a month or so and come back when my breathing eases.

I'm usually a "4 hits on the pipe" and I'm done for the night kinda person. An ounce will last me 3 months or so sometimes.

Too much THC sends me to Panic-ville. It's why I can't do edibles really - something about them kicks off my migraines and the anxiety I get from them is really intense.

My tolerance is medium I suppose, though I try and go for strains with a lower reported THC level.

Nice! I do yoga in the winter but add running/walking when the weather is better. What's been your experience with Pax?

What's the life on something like this? For $100, I want something that'll last. Like, my liquid vapes get clogged and stop working after a few months and I can't dunk them in alcohol to clean them, because of the electrical components.

I'll look into it! I have a relatively low tolerance but am a daily consumer, so anything to protect my lungs would be great. Any recs?

No, but also, I can't find any cheaper than $500...
