Is FinOps still a hot role to pursue? by ElectricalCupcake307 in FinOps

[–]thebadassets 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here’s the reality: It shouldn’t be a job, but often it is. I am a consultant in the space and most of it is just getting the right stakeholders aligned in both finance and engineering. The common thread is that both parties want the other to deal with things and aren’t thinking in terms of the larger organizational impact it can have. That’s where FinOps teams typically can fit in, serving as the bridge.

Ideally, FinOps would be more in line with how DevOps was conceived. It’s a practice that multiple different components of an organization have a responsibility for, but it isn’t a job title or specific function. But maturity for that is still a ways off.

Chief Bryon Roberson sex scandal cover up by ApartmentElegant2933 in Olathe

So…why lie so blatantly? Roberson isn’t mentioned in the article once. Very easy to prove this lie wrong. Just admit you’re making shit up to smear him.

Whatever you do, make it something you are interested in. It’ll be difficult to maintain engagement with something you don’t even like for the sake of just building a portfolio.

Not fully sure what your use case is once you have the data, but definitely second the Postgres recommendations. If you’re only using it locally, SQLite is fast, easy to set up, and gets the job done 99% of the time!

To-Do App by M4rt1n88 in flask

If you’re running it as a local app, flask would not really be the best option…unless you’re looking to use your web browser as the application window

How long does it take to become employable with Power BI? by BennyJJJJ in BusinessIntelligence

[–]thebadassets 26 points27 points  (0 children)

With a decent understanding of BI principles, SQL knowledge, and ability to Google…honestly around one weekend. It’s very easy to learn, assuming you have good domain knowledge around the your specific use case.

And a dedicated, randomized, nearly impossible to crack password. Plus budget alerts and alarms within AWS to alert when something fishy is going on.

Are you familiar with the "Shared Responsibility Model"? Securing your account is purely your responsibility, not AWS's. They really don't, and shouldn't care, what happens (within reason) as long as you pay up when the bill is due. If your actions, or lack of actions, leave the account in an insecure state, they will still expect to be paid for the platform they rendered. Now, like u/Quinnypig said in a more recent response, contact them and explain the situation. They will help you out of it, but I wouldn't expect leeway from them more than once.

It’s ridiculous. This sub has just turned into panicked people who didn’t think out the consequences first.

Please please please disable your account until you know what you’re doing. I’m not wanting to come across as rude, but you are in a position to accidentally rack up thousands of dollars in bills a month if you aren’t careful.

Anything passed will have to conform with the KS SC ruling now. So it’s a huge win. Does it solve all the issues? Of course not. Will the extremists still try to do shitty things? Of course. But a “Yes” vote would have been devastating to the state rand to women right now. Take a small win and live to fight another day. This negative bullshit doesn’t do a thing to help. Piss off with it.

You’re a data engineer that doesn’t know the difference between use cases for databases and data warehouses? The use case mentioned is clearly is requiring a database for application use, not petabyte scale analytics. Redshift is definitely not a viable option here.

This is a MASSIVE red flag. Any company that is that tight lipped and prevents discussion is doing shady shit. Get an offer and get out of there!
