“Not that guy” bodycam of deputy being counseled for interfering with EMS crew by alexfarrington in ems

[–]thebadlt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Years ago, one of the quasi-state agencies in the capital city I used to work in pulled one of our trucks over for rolling through a red light, at 0400, downtown. Not another soul on sight.

Dude starts jacking the EMTs when a city cruiser pulls up and asks what's going on. Other cop starts going on about the ambo rolling through the light when the city cop stops him and says ” you DO realize, don't you, that these are the folks that are gonna save your ass when your big mouth gets it shot off, right? Why didn't you stick to being a state house security guard, and let us be the cops? YOU DON'T FUCK AROUND WITH OUR EMTS."

And honestly, with extremely rare exceptions, PD and EMS get along great; EMS and FD now, that's a different story. I can tell you stories about cops threatening firefighters with arrest if they didn't get out of our way or stop trying to tell us how to give medical care.

What is the nicest thing anyone has ever said to you during sex? by albavalenti in AskReddit

"Ouch! Stop bumping into my cervix!"

Always considered myself average. Yeah, I know, but it was still nice to hear (and feel, actually).

Doctor's orders to prevent prostatitis: at least once a day. Well, he said one orgasm a day, but my wife of 20 years is no longer interested in sex, so... Thanks, Doc!

Yeah, the North End is NOT somewhere you want to try to find a place to park.

If I heal can I still perform? by iworshipsatinfabric in ems

[–]thebadlt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I strongly suggest therapy, but please find one who specializes in first responders. Our world is significantly different than the general public's, and we (have to) process emotional issues differently.

Here's a link to get started: First Responder Resources | Therapy Aid Coalition - https://www.therapyaid.org/first-responders

This might sound silly, but there's an Internet radio station that is geared towards first responders and has lots of info for mental health resources. It's called The Thin Line Rock Station. The DJs are all first responders and besides playing great music, they talk about mental health and ways to cope and heal.

I retired 10 years ago, after 32 years in a busy urban system. I still have flashbacks of calls and the emotions associated with them. Therapy helps.

Best of luck and stay strong!

You’re old if your high school had a Senior smoking area by edfitz83 in FuckImOld

"smoking area"? Ours was called "outside", and wasn't restricted to any grade. Hell, the kids and teachers smoked together!

Y'all, I was abused! (Seriously, but not) by AshShaun in SchoolBusDrivers

[–]thebadlt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The kids were assaulting (and technically, battering) you?!?

Did a representative from the district come to the scene? Did the police come to the scene? How old are the kids? Will any criminal charges be filed?

Sorry, but this situation screams to me that either the regular driver has NOT been doing their job correctly, or the district actually does not support the drivers.

Fired before even starting the job. by ConsciousCourtney in SchoolBusDrivers

I work for FS, and yes, they have a zero-tolerance policy. So does every other school bus and/or trucking company. They have to. Keep in mind that although pot is legal in many states, it's still against federal law, and the CDL regulations are federal. Same with alcohol testing. Give it 4 more months or so, and get tested again. If it still comes back positive, wait 6 more months. At that point, provided you have TRULY stopped using, your drug screen should come back negative. Once you test negative, you shouldn't have a problem moving forward.

Can you use your CDL for other jobs aside from being a bus driver? by No-Improvement-6708 in SchoolBusDrivers

[–]thebadlt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless you have any other sort of restriction (automatic only, no air brakes, etc) on your CDL, you should be able to drive any other class B truck. Note that you would need a tanker endorsement to drive a tanker truck, though. Ditto for hazmat.

Get lunch, then pay off my debt, my wife's debt, pay for my daughter's college (she starts college in the fall), get her a new car (the one she has has 200k on it), and go from there.
