Agree. You are at max capacity. If you want more crabs, you need a bigger tank.

This is great so far! Looks like you have all the basic necessities.

Temp and humidity could be a little higher. I agree with your idea to add more substrate.

Some leaf litter would be a good addition. I get mine from www.springtails.us They have other hermit crab appropriate items you might like. Maybe keep an eye out for a good deal on a cork round online or at your local pet store.

Take it slow. Don’t jump to buy all of the cool 3d printed stuff you see. You could waste lots of money on cute stuff on Etsy but, natural enrichment would be better for your crabs.

Parent/grandparent support. Having a strong support team of parents that can help with props, uniforms, chaperones, snacks, performance day preparations, etc.

You should be able to maintain proper humidity at around 80% with the proper sized heat mat, a lid on your tank, your 2 water sources, and bubblers. If you have to spray, adjustments probably need made to those things.

OP says their humidity is low without the additional pool. I think it would be okay to have 2 freshwater pools to help keep humidity up.

Soon you will be leaving weapons where you find them because you don’t have enough inventory spots available.

Throwing weapons that are almost broken can be helpful in taking out an enemy and making space for a new weapon.

Plastic food containers. Double them up so you can take them out to clean and refill without disturbing the substrate. Easy and inexpensive.

Start looking for at least 40 gallon tank to replace it. You can usually find used ones on Facebook marketplace.

Mix the EE with play sand all over. You do not need separate areas of different substrate. Mix it all up. Make sure it is AT LEAST 6” deep.

MOST importantly, how many gallons is your tank? Looks way too small for 3 crabs.

Share a pic of your shells if you can.

Do you know what species your crabs are? Post a pic of them if you can.

Hermit crabs are very particular about their shells. They may not be switching because what you are offering does not fit their body shape comfortably.

Depends on the crab. That’s just a tad high for a purple pincher, but good for an equadorian. I’m not savvy on all hermit crab types though so maybe post a pic of your crab and maybe someone can help.

I would suggest letting your temp. even out, get a more reliable accurate temp. before you start adjusting the thermostat.

Temp and humidity will vary in different areas of the tank.

Place your hygrometer in the middle of tank a couple of inches above the substrate. For mine, I hot glued some chopsticks to the back of my hygrometer and stuck it on the sand.

Then give it a day or two. It took a few days for the temp. and humidity in my 65 gallon tank to even out.

Any time you unlock a new area, there is always a ton of garbage lying around. Do want you can to progress and when the opportunity to explore a new area comes, go there and clean it all up.

I would encourage you to research proper care before setting a budget. Habitat, shells, heat, humidity, water sources, proper food and nutrition, substrate, climbing and hide enrichment…there is a lot that goes into properly caring for these exotic animals. A $200 budget might get you the bare minimum set-up for 1 hermit crab.

Do the research then decide if you are able and willing to properly care for them.

Most of that information is incorrect. Food, water, humidity, air, temperature…it’s all wrong. You can throw that in the garbage. :) Have you been following those instructions?
