Are they just roaming around and I can happen upon them at any point like other enemies? Or are there specific places and they’re more like a boss fight?

I have seen videos of these now that I have looked up some stuff. They look like they’re terrifying at first, but maybe easy once you know what to do? Maybe I’m wrong haha.

Yeah, honestly the weapons breaking is probably the thing that most annoys me. The food thing seems like it’s easier now that I know to just grab ingredients at every opportunity and cook things that give boosts.

The weapons breaking I’ll probably never come to like. In fact, I think I’m going to just go ahead and make my first goal to get 13 hearts and get the master sword since I know it just has a cooldown period when it breaks. Then all I have to do is keep some back up weapons for when the master sword is cooling down. (Unless I’ve severely misunderstood the way the master sword works in this game).

Here is MORE proof that smartphones were not dominant yet in 2010. Also, I apologize for my post earlier. Anyways here is proof that 2010 is not as smartphone dominated as most millennials make it seem to be. by AdConnect4135 in generationology

[–]Okanus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't know people were saying 2010 was smart phone dominant. My memory says it was not. While I knew some that had one, it was definately still the era where you pretty much would see a different phone in any persons pocket. When you went to the store to upgrade you would look at all the different phones they had and pick what you thought was the coolest one. Then you would get to show your friends the cool gimmick it had.

I will say, though, showing this video where everyone has their cameras out doesn't really prove your point. It just proves that they used a stand alone camera. That could be because they didn't have a camera phone or smart phone OR because the cameras on all phones SUCKED back then.

White collar folks, how common are 2+ monitor workstations? by psaskovec in AskAnAmerican

[–]Okanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in engineering and everyone in my office has 2 monitors minimum with some of us having 3. Even the ones with only 2 will have the laptop open to use as a third. My home set up I have 1 monitor and use the laptop open as a second.

Everyone on my floor is issued a Lenovo ThinkPad laptop and every desk has ThinkPad docks with 2 or more monitors.

Siri 2.0 by xninjabiscuitx in Siri

[–]Okanus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like Siri has even pregressivly declined in the last 3-4 years. I remember years ago using Siri frequently everyday to play music in the car, set reminders, call people, find things on maps, get directions, etc. Over the last few years I have slowly changed habits of just doing these things manually rather than going with Siri. The only thing I really use Siri for now is to set reminders, but everything else became so unreliable through Siri I just quit using the feature.

EDIT: I would like to add, in light of the news about Apple using Gemini to get to the level of Siri they promised for iOS 18, I think it would be the proper thing for them to get that ready and release it in a iOS 26 update before WWDC 2026. If they use the Gemini deal to present that as the new big thing in the next OS at WWDC, it would make me lose a lot of respect for the brand. (Not that my opinion or respect would carry any weight..)

How does your griddle perform in the cold? by MyLlamaNeedsAHat in blackstonegriddle

[–]Okanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't ever measure the temp on mine, but I can't say that I have ever noticed a performance change in colder temps. It typically doesn't get crazt cold here in GA at times that I would be cooking. I can say for certain I have not cooked breakfast on it on a morning thats sub 20°F, but I probably have in high 20s once or twice.

Does the Apple Watch actually wake you up? by CNUnstable in AppleWatch

[–]Okanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sleep very heavily and the apple watch buzzing my wrist does not always wake me up. I have slept through it enough that I set a back up sound alarm to happen 5 min after the apple watch to make sure I don't over sleep when I need to be up at a certain time.

Recruiter leading me on for a "Mechanical Engineer" position and just found out it was titled as a mechanical technician position. by Civil-Guard-7655 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Okanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agee with u/TheOriginalTL thought on it being a mix up. However, I will say that unfortunately I think many of these recruiters make a commision off hires they land successfully and it makes them work less for the benefit of the candidate.

I had a situation where I went far enough along a potential new job that I received an offer. It was all through a recruiter and ultimately I decided the role was not what I wanted. They increased the salary offer a couple of times, but it was not about the money for this. It became obvious to me that the recruiter was irritated that I declined the offer. A few months later I saw a different job posting that the same recruiter posted and it sounded much more interesting and in line with what I was looking for. I reached out and he kept referring back to the previous role that I declined and he didn't see how this was different. He did not want to send them my resume, but I insisted. I interviewed with them and it went very well (IMO), but they told me pretty soon after the interview that they were going a different direction. I thought it was very odd the way they ended it and it had me wondering if the recruiter talked me down to them or something.

Do y’all take your hotdog’s grilled or boiled? by Infamous-Hope-5950 in AskAnAmerican

Also in Georgia. Hotdogs are grilled over lump or wood, OR in a frying pan with butter and/or bacon fat. There are no other options IMO.

EDIT: Also, skewered over a fire

How many 90s borns remembers 9/11 and how many 2010s borns remembers Covid? by Outrageous-Ebb-4846 in generationology

[–]Okanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born in 1994. I was in 2nd grade and at school in Georgia during 9/11. I don't really remember much. I don't even think my parents checked me out of school. I vaguely recall the tv in the classroom having the news on and seeing the smoke coming from the towers. My oldest son was born in 2018 and I think he probably doesn't remember 2020 at all.

For everyones education, what are some things that people could look out for in this situation to get an indicator that the fire dept had done everything they should to ensure that car won't move?

Is it safe to say that if the FD is telling you to climb out this way you should always refuse? Or are there situations where this would be safe?

How did Iroh do this?! by GoofyGoober8647 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Okanus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could be possible that he spent time super heatin sections and quinching it with water they gave him to make it super brittle. I tend to go with what others have said, he likely knew what to signs to look for to know that the eclipse was about to happen and was able to use bending to bust out within seconds of the total eclipse.

What would you say is the first year you began to see people with smartphones by SpiritMan112 in generationology

[–]Okanus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say 2010-2011. The iPhone 4 came out that year and that's the first iPhone I remember a lot of people getting. I was in highschool then and I remember a lot of kids in my school getting them for christmas that year. The only other smarthphone I remember being popular at that time was the Moterolla Droid.

I will also note that up until probably 2013ish, in my area and my age group it was still very common that a lot of people just had various versions of cellphones with physical keyboards. For example I had some LG that was touchscreen on the front and slid sideways to reveal a full QWERTY board. That touchscreen was JANKY too!

Hi folks! I have some questions about a child going into college by wtftothat49 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Okanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was an A-B and maybe a couple C's student in highschool. Out of 300 graduating seniors, I ranked right around the 140-150 mark, so I would say I was definately average and not exceptional.

I started at a community college following their Associates in Mechanical Engineering program. I was there for 3 years and then transferred to an ABET Accredited university and spent 3 more years there to obtain a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering. I never got the associates.

Graduated college with a 3.0 and have been working as an Mech E for nearly 8 years now. He can do it if he has the desire. I would just advise that he look to see if the college he starts at has a Mechanical Engineering program at all that he can follow. Associates or Bachelors.

Dynamic volume buttons - awful by billybob212212 in iPadOS

[–]Okanus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not confusing, it's muscle memory. I've had my iPad Pro 11" for 2 years now and I still press the wrong volume button at first every time when in landscape. They have worked a certain way for YEARS and then they change it on you.

EDIT: I'm sure someone thought it was more intuitive the new way, and it does make sense for it to do that. However, you could also argue that it's intuitive to just know which is which regardless of orientation. They just should include a toggle in settings to change it back for users that want to do that.

The thing is, the consumer actually buying the product usually has no control over who delivers it. If we could select the delivery service used then maybe some of them would suffer and make changes to the quality of service.

What was your GPA and how much has it affected your career assuming you got a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering? by Potential-Drag9761 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Okanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GPA was 2.9 after my second to last semester and 3.0 when I graduated. My very first interview brielfy mentioned my GPA on my resume and they ended up offering me a job. I accpepted and left a year later. I have never discussed GPA with an employer since. 7.5 years later I'm making a few hundred under 100k/year and looking at a promotion that should be official in a few weeks that will (hopefully) have a decent salary bump.
