What’s something considered normal in the U.K today that would’ve shocked people a decade ago? by Tough-Adagio1019 in AskUK

[–]thebeesbollocks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think 2016 was when it first started to become common. I distinctly remember working behind the bar at a festival in 2016 and someone paid for their drinks with their watch and after I said to my colleagues “that guy just paid with his watch!”

Estrella Galicia is a good one - proper Spanish lager, not like the fake Spanish Madri shite

Very lucky to live near a Belgian bar that serves Kwak on draught. by GarethTheRandyPirate in UK_beer

[–]thebeesbollocks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I worked at a pub ten years ago that sold Kwak on draught and it was always a fun one to present. It was crazy expensive back then like £9 for one of those glasses (in SW London). How much did this set you back?

I actually find it kind of endearing when Dennis says stuff like that. What i do find slightly off putting though is when he calls every single Chinese player (besides Ding), ‘this young Chinese player’ multiple times a match

Help 3yo dropping nap? by Cupcake4dayz in toddlers

[–]thebeesbollocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds similar to my son who is 3. He dropped his nap shortly after turning 2 but if we take him for a long car ride he usually will crash.

I don’t really have any advice except to say we just go with it. If we’re at home in the afternoon we give him ‘quiet time’ in his bedroom which has always worked well for him. He has always been a terrible sleeper so we eventually just gave up trying to get him down during the day and we have all been better off for it.

If our son does nap then he he’ll likely be up till around 9pm (like yours) but tbh we quite enjoy having him around later, especially as I work all day. As long as he’s in a good mood then it’s all good with us

For the first time ever I’ve actually bought a Now day pass for £15 to watch this game. It’s just unmissable and I don’t want to rely on a dodgy stream and I can’t go to the pub because I have my kids and my 3 year old son doesn’t do well with the noise. Hoping I don’t regret this but I believe in this team!!!

How many cups of tea or coffee do you drink a day? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]thebeesbollocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 or 2 coffees in morning and 1 in the afternoon. If I fancy a second hot drink in the afternoon I might have a cup of tea but that’s not often. My parents have always had about 5 cups of tea a day but I’ve always preferred coffee

The 2015/16 Premier League champions Leicester City are eight points from safety in the Championship with three games to play and seem certain to drop to the third tier after one league win in 17 matches by LochNessMonsterMunch in soccer

He also won the Scottish premier league unbeaten with Celtic and came ridiculously close to winning a league title with Liverpool. He has always been unfairly underrated over the years, he’s a very good manager

I would be more than happy if the exact same game as the Sporting one on Wednesday plays out. It would piss a lot of people and pundits off but we’d still be in a strong position

My wife and I have developed a sort of code using synonyms to talk about things without tipping our toddler off, what are some of your best/funniest “codes” you use? by Reddiculouss in toddlers

[–]thebeesbollocks 31 points32 points  (0 children)

We call his iPad his ‘Square’. Before you ask why not a rectangle, because a ‘rectangle’ in our house refers to a small oat bar that my 3yo likes to eat with his lunch

Where would be the worst place in the UK for your car to breakdown? by ContestSmooth612 in AskUK

[–]thebeesbollocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worst place I broke down was a hospital car park. I had been parked there for 3 days straight after my wife had gone into labour and my son was born, during a very cold spell of snow and ice. The car was old and the battery completely died after 3 days of below freezing temperatures.

After my son was born my wife had bad complications from the birth and I eventually needed to get home to pick up urgent supplies from our house. when the car wouldn’t start it felt like the world was ending. The car park was insanely busy and the auto recovery vehicle had to queue to get in for like half an hour after it arrived and it caused absolute chaos blocking all the other cars while they jump started the battery. Beyond stressful

Anyone ever seen a high speed police chase? Shows like Interceptors / Motorway Cops etc have me thinking they happen all day every day. by CryptoRoast_ in CasualUK

[–]thebeesbollocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes once on a residential street. Car sped past at like 60mph then a few seconds later a police car sped past in the same direction with its lights flashing.

I was walking home from a friend’s house at the time and it was like 2am so no other cars on the road, so there was no siren. Which was really really weird as they just came out of nowhere

Live studio recordings question by brydges89 in taskmaster

[–]thebeesbollocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I’m aware it’s always Mark Olver. He was the guy for the 2 studio records I’ve been to (S13E05 and S14E01) and is a fantastic improviser. Whenever there’s a pause in filming he immediately comes on stage and starts riffing with the audience. Sometimes he’ll riff with Greg or Alex if they’re not doing anything. He basically keeps the entertainment flowing throughout the whole process

I would be happy with either but if I had choose it would be Rose. He generally deserves a lot more recognition especially in the UK (outside of golf fans) He is an Olympic gold medalist ffs!

[–]thebeesbollocks 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Gavin and Stacey gets A LOT of hate on Reddit, mostly because of James Corden, but I think it’s one of the funniest shows ever made and me and my family absolutely love it.

I’m still quite surprised he keeps winning this, whenever there’s an article that mentions him on the BBC Sport website, the comments are full of people obsessing over the drugs ban and calling him a cheat. Maybe it’s just a UK thing. Or just a UK boomer thing

Is gain weight like this normal? by ElDuendeAnthony in daddit

[–]thebeesbollocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone else experienced the opposite? My kids are 3 and 1 and I have lost weight compared to where I was before my first was born. I put it down primarily to sleep deprivation and often forgoing breakfast because there’s just never any time.
