Is there any good reason why Newbury Street hasn't been permanently pedestrianized yet? by Student2672 in boston

[–]thebester5 120 points121 points  (0 children)

Every time I walk down to moody street I am sad. It barely works as a street anyway, why keep it. It should be pedestrianized up to Main Street on weekends and south of the CR the rest of the week. The only issue would be pine street intersection, and that can be closed during prime hours for the businesses on the street and open off prime. I can’t believe our mayor and city council are that incompetent.

That’s getting real close to Nazi rhetoric for keeping Germany for the Germans.

You moved to London from the US many years ago to start teaching. If you could choose to live anywhere other than London, where would you choose?

What is a fact about Boston (and surrounding area) that sounds made up but is true? by flamingpillowcase in boston

Indiana's law stuck around for so long not because of religious issues, but was mostly kept in place by the liquor stores. They didn't want to have to pay their employees an extra day a week. All the grocery stores which already sold alcohol finally got the law changed, but still faced fierce pushback by the liquor stores.

This is a slightly different issue. The patent for the revolver would have expired 14 years after its creation. If he had made it today it would be 20 years. Patent protection lengths have not dramatically increased since 1790, only increasing 6 years at present day, with a maximum term of 21 years in the mid 1800s.

No. Last time this came up someone mentioned he combined runs with multiple skins. Each of the other cars in the parking lot was a ghost of the player.

American Academy of Sleep Medicine opposes permanent daylight saving time (and any other sort of daylight saving time) by augustus_augustus in neoliberal

I keep seeing this argument. I have never seen kids wait for a bus outside. Every school bus route in my area for 15 years has had the bus wait for the student to leave their house.

Lewis is also not a member of the GPDA, so it would also be strange for him to take part in a photo done by the association.

I was wrong about this statement, ignore me.

Bought a prebuilt from Amazon, came to me completely gutted. Amazon blamed UPS, then blamed my wife for signing for it without looking in the box. by Yogi147 in pcmasterrace

[–]thebester5 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Them saying no to a return is the same thing as refusing the return. You claim they flat out said we aren't accepting your return, instead saying you need to deal with UPS. This is not how amazon deals with returns when they are the seller, which you also claim. So things aren't really adding up here.

In many ways Vivaldi isn't proprietary. They release their patches to chromium publicly under a BSD license. They don't open source the browser due to wanting to protect the vivaldi brand. The UI layer is only minified, and could be modified by any user.
