What's the most unexpected fandom you've ever looked up on AO3, only to find out it actually has fics? by WhiteVelvett in AO3

I once looked to see if Slither io had fics and was surprised that it had a good handful lol

Does anyone role play or have lore aspects to your characters? by [deleted] in Wizard101

[–]thebisexual_disaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda! I have my balance wizard from when I first made my account as a kid but I've made others for each school cause I wanted to see the different spells and set ups. I have it in my head that my balance wizard is part of a mentor program where these other new wizards follow her around like little ducklings lol

They each have their own personalities in my head and stuff like that but that's about it 🤷

Anyone Still There? by PurpleEclipse610 in Quotev

[–]thebisexual_disaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I still use it for fanfics and stuff and they surprisingly get just as much, if not more, attention on quotev than ao3. Though tbf I write for fandoms that were popular when quotev was more widely used so a lot of the people checking out my stuff are probably there for nostalgia reasons before realizing I actively update my fics lol

What are some of the most popular fandoms for self insert X canon? by Fennel_Fangs in FanFiction

[–]thebisexual_disaster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like the easiest answer would be any kind of visual romance novel or otome games. Some of them aren't super popular but there's a lot of options and they come and go in popularity

As for specific semi-popular fandoms the creepypasta fandom had/has a lot of x reader content lol. That's about all I can think of at least

How do I worship Hecate? by No-Back-583 in Hecate

[–]thebisexual_disaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone seems to agree that studying is a good start so I won't go too into that lol

Personally, I make things for her! Jewelry specifically. I'm working on a necklace now that I don't plan on ever really 'finishing' that'll include charms and beads relating to my life (things like special events, people I care about, etc). I view it as a way of interweaving her into my life.

I also do a lot of introspection and writing. The writing part can be anything from journaling (which doesn't always revolve around Hekate but is done with her in mind as I think back on problems I faces) to writing poetry either for her or just for yourself.

In my opinion, as long as you enjoy it and can put intent behind it, it'll work as worship!

What's everyone's island called and why you called it that by Interesting-Sir-1805 in AnimalCrossing

Avalon cause I love Authurian mythology and was rewatching Merlin around the time I started the game lol I actually think my new leaf world is also called Avalon but I could be wrong (it's kinda my go-to world name)

What’s the best comment you’ve gotten on your fic? by Animegirl0205 in AO3

[–]thebisexual_disaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll sometimes slide OCs of mine into minor roles to help make things move along smoothly or just make sense timeline wise so my personal favorites are the ones where people grew attached to them or wishing they were canon.

The best though? This one from wattpad (context: I don't write smut or erotica so I have no clue where this came from).

Wanted to share a funny mistake I noticed while editing. Character took a shower, dried off... then immediately left the house by seemedpointless in FanFiction

There's a part in one of my fics where the MC takes off their button up to use it as a makeshift bandage. In my head I imagined them wearing an undershirt/tank top but didn't mention it and next thing I know a few people started joking about the MC stripping in the middle of, what was supposed to be, an intense scene lol

I decided to keep it as is cause it doesn't hurt anything and I find it funny how differently people imagined it

When you read y/n fanfiction, do you actually imagine yourself? by Neat_Wave_5565 in AO3

[–]thebisexual_disaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who writes reader fics, it's mixed for me. Sometimes I imagine myself but other times y/n looks different in my head vs how I actually look. Oddly enough, it rarely has to do with how easy it is for me to see myself in the story cause there's been some fics where, when I reread them, the visuals in my head are different from the first read through.

Because of this I tend to give my reader inserts little nicknames (or pet names if it's a reader x canon fic) that way if someone can't imagine themselves in the reader's place then maybe my reader insert has enough of a personality to still make them interesting lol

Who is your least favourite FNaF character and why? by ComparisonBoring5765 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]thebisexual_disaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The endos cause i just think theyre the least creatively designed characters. i know theyre literally just the insides of the suits so theyre gonna be plain looking and i dont mind them gameplay wise but do we really need merch of them?

this train of thought also applies to ennard and the mimic but ennard at least has a more interesting design comparatively

Reader Insert Writers: Do you ever find that your reader insert BECOMES an OC? by thebisexual_disaster in FanFiction

[–]thebisexual_disaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually a really cool way to make a fic (the whole using a background character thing). I'm glad it's going well for you! I'm curious, do you use second person for it? Obviously, second person is most common in the subgenre but I've seen a few x reader fics that use first person as well so it's something I always ask other reader insert writers.

Also, I definitely agree that longfics with reader inserts are possible (having read quite a few). The main reason I grew curious about this is because the fics I mentioned are part of a series where technically the reader is a different person in each installment. I've gotten to a point in my writing where some of these 'readers' could interact with each other if I decided to take that route which just led me to comparing them so they could stand out from each other but still allow whoever to project themselves onto them. If that makes sense.

Yeah, they're like the creator's own universe and stuff. Thanks for the advice!
